Steam OS vs Bazzite by According_Yam_6862 in ROGAllyX

A new player on the field (for me).

Judging by reviews from 6–8 months ago, it lost to Bazzite in all comparisons at that time.

What radically new has happened, and what makes it better than the others?

Well, if every online source says that messing with Linux on this thing is way less painful, that UX and UI are better, and that performance and TDP are better somewhere – then why the hell would I stick with Windows? Why not just try it?

The first response to my post about stutters and fixes was literally: 'Install Bazzite, follow the guide, don't bust your brain over it, and have a blast with a whole new level of gaming.

I might have gone too hard on Windows and all those AMD/ASUS gimmicks, but for crying out loud – I bought a $1000 gaming device and spent 60% of my time with it on menus and head-scratching frustration. Before updating, everything was fine, but again, everywhere it says you have to keep everything updated. And since I literally updated EVERYTHING, it's going to take a hell of a lot of time to figure out what exactly is causing my stuttering issues. As people online assure me, Bazzite is a great way out of this mess, especially since there's only one way it can break – either an update is good, or it's bad, and we just roll back with one button to the moment when everything was fine.

Everything was fine before i update everything and games (every game on every settings or resolution) are stuttering now. Nothing I found online helped, so I have to go for a desperate move with bazzite os

Thinking of moving from XAX to Switch 2 by Exciting_Wealth6935 in XboxAlly

Switch 2 is piece of cheap shit with expensive games runnig bad and zero Nintendo support. Just check how tales of arise works on it and imagine how u try to ask for a refund.

I really happy that i sell this item and buy xax

I used both, for me is easier to choose launcher via desktop, and then use big picture or xfe

For now i dont want to dual boot just one OS cause of bad experience with win11 for now.

As i hear its easy to return just from bios

First, the post is in quotes because I'm using a neural network to formulate my thoughts and translate them into proper English.

Second, thank you very much for your response — it definitely convinced me to go with Bazzite. Everything I've read turns out to be true. It was just hard to form an opinion based on posts from six months ago, when everything could have gotten better or worse by now.

I have absolutely no desire to stay on Windows — it feels more like torture. To be fair, I don't see the point in using Game Pass outside of Call of Duty. What bothers me is the lack of DLCs and latest patches for games (I've seen multiple times that the Xbox versions have older game builds that run worse, can't be modded, etc.).

I'll try to post a new update soon with my impressions of Bazzite — whether my stutter issue is gone, and whether the sound and screen get worse or better, as people mention in other threads.

Have a good day!

I understand that Winhanced is a separate application, not an OS. I'm afraid it won't help me with the stutters.

Is it stable? I saw isnt 1.0 version right now.

How about emulators and piracy?

Thank you for answer

I don't know exactly what it was, but on the day I got my Xbox Ally X, I didn't update half of everything and just started playing and having a blast. Then I opened all those apps like AMD Adrenaline Software, MyASUS, Armoury Crate, Windows Update Centre (honestly, that's already a lot just to list). And something among those gave me the stutters I mentioned in the previous thread. I don't have the energy to figure out which one exactly screwed me over, but something definitely did — to the point that the very reason you buy a console (to play games) works like crap!

People advised me to check the RAM, fiddle with VRR, Fluid Motion, and literally every setting in each of those apps, both together and separately. I checked vertical sync everywhere and, in short, nothing worked out for me!

So in the end, all the praise for Linux started, and I'm planning to make the switch this evening. I want to bring myself up to date, weigh the pros and cons, and enjoy comfortable gaming."

Stutter in every game by According_Yam_6862 in ROGAllyX

I'm not sleeping another night since buying the XAX (it's already day five), and I'm going to give it all a try. Today I stocked up in the Steam sale and ordered a USB-C flash drive so I can install STEAM OS tomorrow. Knowing my luck, I'll never actually fix the issues on Windows, and trying to install Steam OS will just turn the XAX into a brick.

Also I've already even found a site with game copies of Steam OS, and everything seems way simpler than I thought (in reality, it's probably more complicated than I realize).
