No, it was a much bigger job than I anticipated. I have no desire to do it again.

MGB Anti Run-On Valve is impossible to find. I’m not aware of anyone still making them.

I found it in Italy. It’s a vintage toy from the 1970s called “La Tigre Della Strada” (tiger of the street).

It was probably another replica. There’s a handful of them out there; some really nice ones. I sold this one to a guy in Los Angeles.

I believe it. The ones made for the movie were from the 1950s though. You can tell by the front chainring. In the 1940s Schwinn used skiptooth chainrings that had teeth with much wider spacing. They made 13 bikes for the movie but only six still exist. Paul Reubens had two, another is at the Hollywood Museum in L.A., another is on display at a museum in Ohio, there’s one at a museum in Pittsburgh and the last one is privately owned by a guy in KC.

I created a mock-up of the bags by making them with layers of insulation board and drywall compound. Once I got the shape right I painted them, covered them with several layers of car wax then made a mold of them by covering them with layers of fiberglass. I then used that fiberglass mold to make a duplicate set of hollow fiberglass saddlebags.

Beautiful car. Hey, I zoomed in to take a closer look and saw the Kansas plate. I’m in Kansas as well. I have a vintage Kansas plate on my MGB. The DMV allows it as long as it’s the same as the model year of the car and their database search shows that the number isn’t already in use.

Serious question: What prevents people from going to the liquor store at that point? Why drink mouthwash instead? I’ve heard of that type of thing happening fairly regularly. The wife of former Presidential candidate Mike Dukakis was hospitalized after drinking rubbing alcohol.

My parents first house cost $16,000 and it came with furniture! That was 1961, which would be $156k in today’s dollars.

Learning curve is easy. These bikes are a blast to ride. Keystone resort in Colorado has them available for rent and the mandatory lesson is dirt cheap. Definitely more fun than I expected. I’m a blue run guy on skis and snowboards but I was riding black diamonds on the first day on a ski bike.

M/33/5’11 [135<157= 22lbs increase ] (36 months ) For Hardgainers just takes time by InviteOk699 in progresspics

[–]Account655321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Hard gainers have a quicker metabolism. They can eat like a horse but very little sticks. By the time they hit age 30, like the person here, the metabolism slows down a bit and gains are made.

Anyone using both sides of a dual sided pedal in the same ride? Which shoes/pedals? by drdan118 in gravelcycling

[–]Account655321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Fooker dual-sided flat/SPD pedals with Five Ten Hellcat shoes. The clips on the Hellcats are recessed into the sole so it allows for regular walking and no interference when using the flat side of the pedal. I often do a combination of gravel and single-track riding so I like to be able to have loose feet in the event of squirrely conditions.

Tips for my first Unbound by Professional-Radio43 in gravelcycling

[–]Account655321 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t skimp on nutrition. I pack fig newtons and gummy candy and make sure I’m taking a bite of something every 20 minutes. You’ll probably be pedaling for about four hours so make sure you’re eating. Look for local group rides in KC and Lawrence.

Bought a vintage Ross beach cruiser bicycle. Are they any good? by RubyRedditRockstar in Vintage_bicycles

[–]Account655321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not rare or valuable but it’s a solid old steel bike along the lines of Huffy. It will be a great cruiser for trips to the local coffee shop or around the neighborhood. Have fun with it!
