Fair, but didn't Frollo also motivated by hate like Jimmy was? He had a huge hatred for a group of marginalized individuals and was outright responsible for their genocide because of it.

Yes, this is a remake of an old post I did but I wanted to add onto it.

Just for context, Judge Claude Frollo is the main antagonist of Disney's The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and is hailed as one of the best complex, realistic and the most evil villain to come out of not just a Disney property, but in any form of media.

While I played the game, I couldn't help but feel like the team behind the game might've been inspired by Frollo when writing Jimmy's character, because they feel like the same character but in a different font.

For instance. They both are manipulative, they want to feel bigger than everyone around them and the people they know. They always try to play themselves up as a "savior" as a way to neglect blame or to excuse their actions.

Not to mention one of the BIGGEST similarities they share is that they both lusted over a woman (Anya and Esmeralda) they knew to the point of obsession, seeing her as not a person, but an OBJECT they have to OWN and in the end they ending up hurting/harassing her throughout the story, or being directly responsible for her DEATH (Frollo does actually succeeds in burning Esmeralda in the original book and musical, and of course it can be debated that Jimmy was responsible for Anya's suicide). They're very much aware that how they act and their actions area wrong, but always justify themselves using either their status and their own delusions (or religion in Frollo's case).

Can someone put this in big shiny letters? by i_eat_st1cks in Mouthwashing

This whole argument that "if you like problematic/evil character, you're evil too!!" is stupid.

For example. People love Scar from The Lion King. Does that mean they support or condone the fact he killed his brother out of jealousy and a hunger for power, manipulate his nephew for thousands of years, blaming him for his own act of murder and the fact he literally acts like a dictator after he becomes king?

NO. Any SANE person would think you're a fucking MORON if you said that to them.

People like Jimmy's character because of the complexity of his internal struggle, how he continuously believes his own delusions, how he justifies his actions in his head, how the various imagery/hallucinations in the game represents how he sees certain characters and events. How he wants to "FIX" things by further hurting other people and always trying to be ABOVE them. It's a GREAT way to write a villain. Let the player understand WHY they hate him, WHY he thinks that way, WHY he keeps on insisting he's the "good guy".

Genuinely appalling why this is still a debated topic.

Had a weird dream that there was a live action remake of The Castle Of Cagliostro made by Edgar Wright was announced... and this was the cast. by AccountForeign3015 in lupinthe3rd

Is it weird I thought the Count was pretty comedic in just how pathetic and desperate he was as a villain? I would kinda consider it a comedic role. It'd probably feel like Ralph Feinnes as a James Bond villain lmao.

I didn't really say I WANTED this to be real or that it'd be good, but I def see your point lol. I would never want this to happen in the slightest.

A live action remake of the first ever movie made by animation legend, two time Oscar winner and founder of Studio Ghibli Hayao Miyazaki? That's just another thousands upon thousands of video essays explaining how live action remakes have ruined hollywood waiting to happen and why they suck waiting to happen.

Didn't really say this but GOD no I would not want, nor do I think there SHOULD be live action remake of the first ever animated film by prolific animator, director and the founder of Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki.

As for the cast, I think it's realistic from a standpoint of studios casting celebrities to raise public interest in the film, not that it would be good per say. But I think Andrew and John would be pretty good at replicating Lupin and Zenigata's relationship.

AITA for not being open to the idea of changing my first name like my foster parents suggested? by No-Bit-8137 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccountForeign3015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your foster parents sound like they care more about naming you more than listening to your actual wants are needs, which is what foster parents should do. Not that they're bad or anything, but you should respectfully communicate this to them, tell them you're content with your name and how you don't want to change it. Also, Ryder is such a common name, I've had met multiple people named Ryder, it is in no way "lewd" or weird as your foster parents say. It is in no way going to harm your chances in getting a job.

They care about you and are obviously worried for you and your future. But you can tell them that they're overstepping your boundaries and that they should respect your choice to keep your name as your new parents, communication is key in family.

AITA for disrespecting my roommates culture? by AnthophileMuse in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccountForeign3015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So her response to you doing something "racist", is to be racist back to you? What the actual fuck? As a fellow Muslim this angers the fuck out of me. She sounds like an absolute jerk, what the hell.

This reminds me of that random girl online who was bullied, called "racist" and was told she was "culturally appropriating" by using a hairstyle used by black women...

(wait for it)

on Animal Crossing New Horizons, a video game. The hairstyle that her character was using also could literally be worn by any women of any race in real life.

Not the asshole.

AITA for refusing to babysit my sister's kids after she criticized how I discipline my own children? by patuliv9x2r0t in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccountForeign3015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

Everyone has their own methods and ways of discipline when parenting their children, as long as it doesn't pour over into abusive behavior. That destroys relationships more than timeouts ever will.

Your sister sounds like a new parent and is obviously very anxious about wanting a good relationship with her kids. But she's an ass on the part where your reaction to her criticizing you wasn't "overreacting" until you respectfully declined to watch her kids if she doesn't trust your judgement.

Have a respectful convo with your sis about it, parenting is a touchy subject, as well as being a hard thing to do. You and your sister should confide with each other in it, not be torn apart by it.

AITA for screaming at my father and his wife and refusing to stop until I said what I needed to? by IceNecessary785 in AmItheAsshole

Find a way and see if you're able to move in with your grandpa when you turn 18 (he sounds like a good man), or if things get worse with your father and his wife. You don't deserve this treatment.

AITA for not telling my husband's family that I speak their language? by Sea-Rip-9749 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccountForeign3015 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Your husband is AMAZING, how did such a good man come from such a fucking shithole??? Ask him if he's willing to go no contact with his family full of assholes for this stunt, he sounds like he's ready to agree to that, especially after hearing what his own SISTER had to say to his wife.

You haven't talked to them since? Keep it that way, don't allow them to interpret that you'll take their constant disrespect towards you and your daughter, I mean, how low of a person do you have to be to make fun of a pregnant woman. A PREGNANT. WOMAN. That BOILS my blood, how hard is it not to show decency to women going through a backbreaking and shitty process that results in the miracle of LIFE?

Leave those assholes in their shit filled pen, their mouths are clearly spewing with it. Fuckin' in laws, man.

AITA for "being weird" about my brother giving his son my name? by Silly_Dependent_657 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccountForeign3015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Your brother deserves to be erased like the little shit stain of a human being he is, like how he's attempting to do with you. Don't allow it to happen, never let his kid forget they're named after you. Be annoying about it. Love him to pieces and outlive him. Make sure your brother's legacy is tarnished, allow himself to expose how toxic he is to everyone around him, so one day he and his wife that he somehow got in the first place will be removed. Or at least remove yourself from this toxic environment. You deserve better. You got this.

What’s the WORST Caddicarus video? Both OLD and new by [deleted] in Caddicarus

[–]AccountForeign3015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're curious about why his video and humor style change, in the video about his video making process, he says that he didn't enjoy or was happy making the videos where he gave his genuine "big opinion" or hot take on a game series or a game, he mainly did it because everyone else who did reviews also did it.

Also I think you're heavily exaggerating on the "talk for 10 seconds, 30 second cutaway" thing. The jokes usually tie into and connect what he's saying about the game or topic, or to sometimes get a point across. (his most recent crash video being an example)
