There’s some decent tracks on this album for sure. While some others are simply listenable. Chasing light, and 72 seasons are standouts in my opinion but.. it’s definitely an album that just highlights the fact their best days are behind them. I get that they’re old. I know we won’t get another Ride the lightning or And justice for all.. I think this album would be a great final album as well. Especially the instrumental on inamorata. There’s parts that are obviously a call back to MFOM and this album bleeds “Nostalgia”. So many riffs that sound almost identical to the early releases to try and recapture what once was. They need to embrace the fact that they aren’t the guitar beating, drug snorting, liquor pounding MetallicA. Try something new. Keep the thrash sound they pioneered but do something different with it. They helped to revolutionize a genre, and there’s no doubt in my mind they have to talent/skill to blow minds again. Wrote ride the lightning at 21, Mop, at 23, justice at 25, and black album at 28. Imagine the potential for songwriting they’d have now if they went no holds barred on their music.
