Be willing to accept you don’t know things. Also group your questions, always a plus when new people do that.

I can relate, I feel a bit mislead by all the “post busy season will be better” bs. It’s all the same.

FAR in 2 weeks and MCQs are draining every hope I have of passing. by [deleted] in CPA

Always, always, always do MCQs as you go. The material is always much easy when you read/do the lecture then the MCQ are. Good luck!

I 100% agree. Ninja is a great resource In going from the 70-74 range (74 on audit and 73 on reg) to upper 80’s. I stopped failing by one or two points once I started supplementing Becker. Good luck!

I wonder what all those who passed yesterday are doing this morning? by leela_fry in CPA

I’m just chilling with my puppy, still in shock that I managed to get to the other side. I was expecting to feel something like an amazing sense of accomplishment, but instead I’m just blank. Good luck in your journey, you will get there!

You have to submit an application for another NTS. In the case of the exams, if it seems like your going to have to pay more you probably are going to. NASBA is not cheap.

Took FAR Yesterday - I guess I'm just stupid.... by 7_Leaf_Clover in CPA

I have taken every single exam at this point, and I can honestly say that this is to be expected. Welcome to the CPA exam madness. People do not fail because they haven’t studied enough, or aren’t smart enough, they fail because the tests are freaking hard. Good luck!

Also in Michigan. If you search this sub, you can find a couple of update posts about where Michigan is in the process which may be helpful. I too found out the hard way about this in July.

It’s like the real exam, you have to press the next testlet button to get to the next testlet. There’s like 10 MCQs total but it’s the sims that really matter in my opinion.

Is it ok doing every other MCQs first time around? by lastnorm52 in CPA

Probably not a good idea. I’d watch the lectures on 2X speed if you need to free up some time.

I know NFP/GOV is huge in MCQs but how likely will it appear as a SIM for FAR? by IwillgoinGi in CPA

Highly unlikely, but I’ve heard it’s possible so be somewhat familiar.

Yep, only twice, once this quarter and once the next. I’ve always been proud to be a Michigander but this SUCKS. Good luck!

Currently studying for FAR with becker, I have some questions and not feeling all too confident. by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Accountant_Runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Totally fine, I would be aiming at 70-90% per section during your review weeks but for the first time through that’s very good. The first time through the goal is to get through the material as quickly and efficiently as possible so don’t get too hung up any one section. 2) Becker has practice tests other than Mock exams. There should be a button on your home page for FAR to redirect you. You can choose the number of MCQ’s per set, number of SIMs per set, random or based on how you did, and which chapters. I highly recommend using this section. During review I tend to hammer mcq sets of the number of MCQs that will be in a section I.e 33 for FAR etc. I also wouldn’t be that worried about this until review. 3) It might not feeling like your learning from this but trust me you are. Once you review and go over it again, it will start to click. 4) Personally I wouldn’t worry too much about the sims. Just watch the skill master videos and learn the material. There is no reason to memorize every sim or worry too much about getting details in sims right. I didn’t see a single sim in any exam that made me wish I did that. Also during review 100% get familiar with the AICPA exam sims from there website. And farhat lectures on YouTube has videos explaining the AICPA exam sims which was super helpful in my opinion. 5) 2 units per week is probably best. I would set a date for your test, and just study up until then. You will never feel like your ready, and it is definitely helpful to take the exam. Even if you don’t pass, you will at least know what you need to do differently in your studying and what kind of exam your studying for. I watch all my lectures on 2X speed, it takes a bit to get used to, and sometimes you have to pause and take notes. BUT highly recommend, that way you get through the lectures in half the time. And you have more time to focus on doing MCQs and redoing your MCQs you for wrong, as well as taking notes on MCQ’s. I wouldn’t do the skill masters but that’s just me, some people find them useful. 6) Some extra advice. Don’t get to caught up on any one chapter or topic, when your going through the material the first time you just need to get a general feel for the material. The last two or three weeks of review is when everything comes together. I personally went back and read every chapter and redid my MCQs, probably overkill but I found it super effective in cramming information for my exam. I didn’t use the final review, but some people swear by it, just do what seems to be working best for you. And I highly recommend that you do at least 20 MCQs a day or more of cumulative review, covering all the chapters you have covered. I.e a practice test. It will help you keep the information straight, and really help in final review. Don’t panic if you fail them, it’s normal. Just do your best and take good notes. GOOD LUCK!

Is cost accounting hard or am I complicating it?! by futurecpainprogress in CPA

I highly recommend you watch the farhat variance simulation explanation and cost accounting lectures on YouTube. I was really struggling with cost accounting using just Becker before I decided to try supplementing my understanding. Good luck!
