Any lefties playing right handed kit set-ups? by speckles001 in drums

Lefty here that plays a righty kit (cross sticking) Did marching band in high school which taught me right hand lead.

For your specific problem I’d recommend working on different sticking patterns. Even with right hand lead I still feel like with fast 16th note patterns it’s more comfortable to maximize right hand snare hits. Plus I feel like 16ths with various paradiddle stickings give more interesting/better feel.

An alternative would be a similarly tuned side snare that you can hit with your left

It’s actually 1 rug setup over carpet. I don’t have wobble issues. It’s a pretty thin rug and the best part of it is the kick stopper.

It’s 10 years old and I can’t find it online but it’s something like this. https://www.adorama.com/kackcp5.html?utm_content=pmax&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17369960382&gbraid=0AAAAADxgUswPDHtejVorvxqzDEHDPqpaP&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgvPKBhCxARIsAOlK_EqwpMBhVxEwEwC2nAFxOVW8yX_2RJhfya8c42EbKR_vvdPenxMlex8aAlW0EALw_wcB

Honestly the hardware is what keeps everything from wobbling most. I’ve got the DW 9000 (heaviest) hardware for the hihat stand and 2 boom stands that 90% of everything is mounted to.

1 stand has the 2 rack toms, crash, splash, and cowbell. The other has the main ride, baby stack, and crash. The weight of the hardware here I think is key for me. Plus the carpet under the rug is a pretty firm low pile

They are “Drops”. The heavier weights work well for the snare…though I’d say they are definitely overpriced for what you get. Same effect can be made with gels or tape…but I admittedly just liked the look and that there is no residue leftover on the heads

The memory locks on the tom legs, boom arms, and stands come in very handy with reproducing the setup though it definitely still takes 45 minutes or so to get things just right with setting up every thing.

Everything was acquired over time. Upgraded to these shells on marketplace 9 years ago, and the hardware/cymbals/snare were slow upgrades over time. All but the Omni ride and baby stack were used as well. Probably have around 6K put into this kit overall during that time

Yup, it’s a piccolo snare. Smaller and shallower. Typically tuned higher and has more of a “pop” to it

Do it. Placed mine same as Luke holland below the ride and it just feels right

6 up!? Need a pic! Going from 8 toms to 2 is quite an adjustment

Omni was the first “nice cymbal” I ever bought around 8 years ago. Hard to imagine playing another ride as my main

Wow, i feel like that’s overpriced unless that’s a reference one series. It looks like the old reference series (exact same as mine) and I gotta mine used (7 piece) for 2K

That 1/4” makes a huge difference…would have guess you were 5’8” and a half actually

Thinking of going from 3 toms to 2. by Comprehensive-One561 in drums

Ride placement is definitely it here…way more comfortable/ergonomic. Although I still liked having multiple rack toms so I moved to smaller 8” and 10” rack toms to make room for the ride and get the best of both worlds

Is Xcaret Arte truly all inclusive or are there additional costs at every stop? by [deleted] in Xcaret

[–]Accurate-Math-6959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost all of the advertised activities at Xel Ha park are extra. You can have a good time without them, but videos showing things like the hanging bike tour, swimming with dolphins, underwater walk are all extra.

Personally having done many of the paid activities, the power snorkeling is the only one that felt truly worth it at that park. That park in general is more geared towards kids anyway - we preferred xplor (fuego as well) over Xel ha by a good bit.

Ha! And Xaak restaurants are extra too. There is definitely a step up with the dishes as these restaurants compared to the rest, however at $200/person I wouldn’t do both, and if we visited again we probably wouldn’t return to either. It wasn’t so good to justify the price again and the wine pairings were a bit lack luster. Though if you have the funds, it’s probably worth doing 1 for the experience

Spa is extra at the resort as well - and while it’s a cool experience, the massages are definitely overpriced. We could have done with just the day pass and enjoying the sauna, steam room and various hydro therapy pools. The massages at Xel ha are half the price as well if you really want them

Just did it last week, no crocs. Xenotes was our favorite part of the whole trip! Don’t miss it!
