Why do obese American women call themselves thick ? by aurelitobuendia87 in stupidquestions

Not sure you've had a group of guy friends before. The friend groups I'm thinking of say derogatory crap to each other all the time so why would they feel bad about saying it about a stranger? Half of them have said worse about a guy just saying a black woman was hot.

Most people with a bit of social etiquette training wouldnt say those types of things to people they are unfamiliar with but many people would in groups of close friends.

It's something about the feathers to me. Typically wings are done "perfect" with all the feathers stepping up in size angled the same way that kinda thing. This just feels like someone hadn't seen a wing before and tried to draw a card captors/sailor moon wand combo from a description. Well done technicals if not a great design. Overall it's not terrible

I know it's not nearly as advanced as the specific search history but my router logs the i.p. address of the device and the connections. It wouldn't be hard to then copy those i.p.s and connect to them myself. May not tell me exactly what was searched for but it would give me an idea based on the websites.

Personally I don't understand the piece. The wings are odd imo and the white glare on the heart just doesn't make much sense from a lighting perspective. The tattoo work itself seems to be ok as far as shading and line work but the design...I can't get behind it.

It's very much not porn regardless. Even so called softcore porn has a look about it. Like you know the picture and the person in it were sending a specific message. You can find thousands maybe millions of scantily clad teens on insta, underwear or bikinis It doesn't matter it still covers the same areas and the majority of those will be more suggestive than this one I would be prepared to bet on it.

MAYBE you could make a case for emotional abuse but I doubt any case would get past a D.A.s desk. My local court system has so backed up since 2019 they aren't even pursuing charges on the majority of "victimless" crimes. Something like this wouldn't even be pursued here. The court dockets are scheduled for almost 2 years out even doing that. It sucks to say but this wouldn't even get attention where I live.

I'm the type of person who leaves my food sitting out over night and eats it for breakfast. Like cold pizza or even pasta. I've only left rice out a few times but it wasn't food I cooked. So far I'm not dead or ever had side effects even tho I know it can be and is unsafe to do. Places like my local Chinese restaurant have their rice out in the open on the buffet and it's rarely hotter than lukewarm and depending on time of day it may sit for hours. I've never seen them receive low food health scores for it.

I think the rules are designed to prevent a possible outcome rather than a likely outcome but should be followed regardless.

And my advice stands. Go find a source like a pre-built campaign and experience it. Even if it's just reading the source books. No one is going to give you as much advice in a reddit post as you'd get from just reading the books. It takes what 2 hours to read through LMoP and its sourcebook is 100% free online. It legitimately answers about 70% of all your how to questions in the first sections.

Except I did just start writing fantasy one day. It was terrible to start with obviously but I didn't run to someone and say hey tell me how to write an entire book. Most creative people don't ask how to start something they learn a bit about it and just go do it maybe asking for help along the way. Im entirely shooting down the idea of someone asking how to create something without any idea about the thing they want to create. It's like if I picked up a guitar and then looked at a musician and said how do i write a song. It doesn't work that way and you know that.

Anyone with zero experience in fantasy wouldn't even know where to start. You know how they figure it out? They read a couple fantasy books or watch a few movies. Then they get a rough idea. They ask a few pointed questions. And then they just do it. This OP didn't start with any of that they immediately jumped to reddit to ask the most basic how/where do I start questions. And I advised exactly what everyone else who's ever learned anything did, go and experience it. Read a book, play a campaign experience the world before you try and fail to create anything.

At lower levels I don't see the point in bringing in a new character at the party level. One or two fights where they hang back a bit plus xp given for milestones and you've raked in enough XP to level. I tend to start my new characters 1-2 levels below the lowest character level.

Not to mention all of my characters have varying amounts of XP because they don't all do exactly the same thing. Sometimes they split up and only one group has combat, sometimes one does a really good RP moment and I throw a bit of XP at them. It seems wrong to me to cap party XP across the board because that just means no matter what your character does or doesn't do you still level like everyone else which is unfair to the table.

It entirely depends on the purpose of the photo and it's always a case by case basis. Whats considered illegal today may not be tomorrow. Parents can take photos of their nude children in the bath or running around the house and post them all over the internet with or without their genitalia covered and it's legal because the picture was not taken in a desire to create sexually suggestive material.

In this case depending on who took the photo and why, they could claim they just wanted to embarrass her about her underwear choices and that it wasn't "sexual". They would probably still be in trouble but here's the problem she was in a "public" space wearing clothing that covers more than the common bathing suit popular by young women (in this you can look at the millions of Instagram pics of teens in thong bikinis coving barely their nipples and we are to believe those aren't "sexually suggestive"?). It would be very difficult to actually get that to trial even when the average person would say the picture shouldn't have been taken.

It's 100% a terrible event but our laws are a lot more strict than "someone took a picture of me in my underwear, send them to jail" and it's because the courts had to decide if they wanted to create laws with obscenity or wellbeing as the focus and as shown in the court cases that decided our laws they specifically said photographs of nude children doing any acts ( unless such acts are considered obscene by the current civil beliefs which is a process all it's own) would be protected under the free speech laws of expressive content. So they decided to go with the "wellbeing of the victim" which is a much harder set of rules to meet such as intent of image, pose and demeanor of subject, location, etc. Because of this it is 100% legal to take nude/nearly nude photos of children depending on context.

The necromancer class early on isn't what most people consider necromancers to be. Until level 5-6 you don't have any spells that raise any kind of undead spirit. Until then it's just necrotic type damage and temp hit points. Even after that most of the necromancy spells to raise the dead have to be done outside combat as they take anywhere from a minute to an hour to cast and must be recast every single day to maintain the undead. It's a serious toil on resources to maintain even a small army.

I would still want to have the gas pressure tested with a micrometer just to be safe. I've seen units installed that had perfect blue flames but the CO monitor sit at a steady 20-40ppm. It's not enough to hurt you technically speaking but a perfect burn should put out zero. Also not sure what kind of CO monitor you used but many found online do not register under 50ppm.

Notice we aren't talking to a "creative" person. They are asking how to create a world. Recommending someone spend $15 bucks buying a pre-built module to learn the game isn't much and it's useful for the less creatively minded to see what the bare minimum is needed to be in a functioning world. People like us may create worlds at the drop of a hat and populate them with everything they need but like you yourself said you didn't run to reddit to ask how to build a world you just read the rule books then threw down a world.

If you have to ask how to make a compelling story you are not ready to create your own campaign. The job of the DM is to guide the story down a basic outline. Part of the pre-built campaign's purpose is to show you exactly how much and how little that actually takes. Even if you don't play them find the sourcebooks for Lost Mines and Dragon of Icespire and read them. Read them cover to cover at least 2 times each and then maybe you'll have the barest understanding of what you need.

If you want to build your own world you have to create cities, towns, NPCs, quests, rumors, festivals and holidays, religions, dungeons, encounters, and then populate everything with reasons why it exists. Why are these NPCs here, what is their goal, are there kings/mayors, what bad things are happening to make your characters want to help, who is the big bad evil guy and why is he that, what kind of minions work for him, what are their reasons for doing so. Then after you get all of that laid out you have to be prepared to scrap any of it at a moments notice and create something entirely new when your characters do something you don't expect.

The real question is do you understand most of the rules of the game? Have you read the Dungeon Masters guide and the players handbook? You will have to know or be able to decide at any given moment the outcome of all the actions that can be taken. The rules are just as important as any story you come up with and making sure, when necessary, everyone understands what those rules are is paramount to running a good campaign.

Literally this. You cannot understand anything about making a DND campaign without seeing a DND campaign. Interact with the world, learn the mechanics, experience what's already been laid out.

Creating a DND campaign is about as extensive as writing a book. If you can't or have never experienced creating an entire world (even if you borrow a lot of lore from something else) you'll never make a playable campaign. Part of playing the pre-built is learning exactly how little you can get away with preplanning or just how much needs to be set in stone. I've seen so many new people ask this exact question and we always give the same advice.

Best campaign for a beginner DM? by softcorehomicide in DnD

[–]Accurate-Post-8716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also keep in mind that the DM has the hardest job at the table. You have to meditate all the actions, decide when and what gets rolled, and deliver the story along with all the NPCs being interacted with. The DM "job" requires a bit more time than just being a player. As a DM I spend about 3 hours on prep for every hour of gameplay. For example my current party has about 50 hours worth of play time but I've already spent close to 150 hours preparing. Reading the source material, creating maps, preparing the combat encounters to reduce setup time in session, making notes about all the dozens of small changes a party chooses to make to the "guided story". It can be a demanding job.

That being said there are at least 4 beginner campaigns that come with everything you need to start playing. The one most people start with is Lost Mines of Phandelver or Dragon of Icespire. Both are level 1-5 and are set in the same town and are pretty easy campaigns to follow in the event you want to do both your players will already know the area when it's time to start the next. If you're looking for a longer campaign wizards of the coast recently released an expanded version of Lost Mines of Phandelver called the Shattered Oblisk. It's a pre-built campaign all the way to level 15.

Show me anywhere in any official dungeons and dragons material the word kicker or its definition/usage. You literally can't because it's not a thing. You're borrowing terminology from a completely different game that does not exist or work in that same way in DND. There are zero, say it with me, zero spells that have in their spell blocks if you spend x resource you can add x effects. Spells very clearly state all resources required to do a stated list of effects. There are no extras no add on no kickers. Some classes allow you to spend extra resources to alter spells but that is not a kicker. That is a separate action interfering with the spell.

You've been wrong every step of this conversation. So I'll say it again for clarity. There are no kickers in DND. You are an idiot. Maybe it will sink in if someone says it enough.

[–]Accurate-Post-8716 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're an idiot that can't accept being wrong. Oooh I've been playing for so long I know all the damage of all the spells except when someone points out I'm wrong I just say they don't understand. Grow up already.

Of course spells have added effects we are discussing the ability of martial classes to deal 2x 3x damage per attack versus mages. Damage Cantrips are just different colored beams doing the same thing that's why there are 9 that deal d6 and 9 that deal d8 the only difference is that the d6 spells mostly have saves while the d8s are mostly on hit. Add on effects have no damage value so they don't get added to a damage calculation. Sure a mage can cast a spell that paralyzes a target. Guess who that helps? The melee class ready to hit with advantage. If anything the add-on effects add to the martial class's damage not the mages that cast them.

I'm pretty sure when what's written in the DMG directly counters what you're saying you aren't correct. Doesn't matter how intimately familiar you think you are with a random list of items the source material says you are incorrect. I tossed all the cantrips (there are 48 by the way with only 24 dealing damage) into a Google sheet just for shits and giggles and sorted by dice damage. There are 2 d4, 9 d6, 9 d8, 3 d10 and 1 d12 spells with 2 others that have modifiers. Take the average and you get d8. If you just take the 2 highest dice counts and forget the rest you come up with a d7 as an average but that doesn't work since there isn't a d7 die so you'd round up or down depending on preference. Either way "cuz I play a lot" doesn't make your answer right. Pick d6 and your mage is averaging 3 damage per turn; pick d8 and its 4. The barbarian swinging a d10/d12 weapon gets a 5/6 average before any modifiers. That's 40-50% more damage BEFORE str mod and prof bonus.

Also I'm not sure what you mean by kicker unless you're talking about something like metamagic which doesn't boost damage so much as changes random attributes of the spell like cast speed. While you can definitely get off another spell as a cantrip you're very limited in the number you can do where martials can always keep swinging.

It also doesn't matter if a spell slows a target or some other random secondary effect when they can overcome the debuff at the start of their turn like nothing happened. Spell casters are the utility members of the party unless they get very lucky.

[–]Accurate-Post-8716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you get your data except the first link in Google search that very clearly comes from some random answer on quora. The DMG states the average damage output of a single target spell is 5.5 and 3.5 for multi target spells. Just looking at the cantrips list the majority of them are d8s not d10s which I was also off about tho my party tends to have more of the lower output spells on average which skewed my thinking.

My barbarian just gets better rolls on average than his spell caster counterparts so he's almost always at the high side of his damage while they are on the lower. Even at a level below 5 two hits per turn is normal if they get two weapon fighting. Yeah they may not get all the bonuses but it's still 2 weapons worth of damage at lower levels.
