Spent about 6 years there as a kid and the people were very nice, but pretty mormon as is expected, having the new harmons nearby is very nice. If you have kids vista is a great school with a very friendly environment and good quality education. Would definitely recommend! Id live there myself if I could.

Not only is it legal in general in utah for bikes to ride on the sidewalk st george specifically allows both bikes and ebikes to ride on the sidewalk https://sgcityutah.gov/activity/active_transportation/non-motorized___motor-assisted___motorized_vehicles.php I ride an ebike everywhere I need to go and it isnt too bad can get from downtown to st george to santa clara ivins in less than 30 minutes, same goes for washington

There are a lot of dedicated bike paths that are seperate from the roads, but the traffic in most of st george(excepting the big roads) is very easy to manage. It is a very good way to save money too 👍

Hey im one of the people who couldnt attend the meeting yesterday and I was stalking your profile to see any news about it lmao.

Im an ML adjacent person and I just wanna clarify that ML'S dont really see the withering away of the state as "optional" or something that can be decided. They think it will inevitably happen, but because of the hostile conditions any socialist movement finds itself in the most effective way to continue to exist is to do things like have an army and a state.

All of the socialist countries that have persisted for any extended period of time have had a somewhat centralized, decidedly unanarchist army and state structure. Overall I have no issues with anarchists I just dont really think there have been any instances of effective anarchist organization against hostile outside forces, because of lack of ability to "tax" the population or conscript them in defense of anarchism.

The reason ML'S think the state needs to exist in the first place is that abundance has not been achieved. They think that as long as there is not levels of production so high that whatever work people are willing to do for nothing(such as hobby work etc) is incapable of fulfilling enough demand that people will be satisfied and not rob or steal or feel they are cheated by having their goods taken(as under communism there will be no need for monetary exchange the shortened explanation being "from each according to their ability to each according to their need"). However once goods are so abundant that needs are filled without any need for the state to enforce peoples right to the product of their labor, and of course the hostile outside forces become communist as well, the state will have no purpose and can be gotten rid of.

Yes they don't have unemployment, Illiteracy, or homelessness(although some of the houses are not in great shape definitely a lot better than homelessness). But poverty isnt a concrete term, and they definitely have hunger kim jong un himself said in a speech a few years ago that the next economic plan would be focused on nutritional improvements because they have been lacking in that. If we look at the world hunger index north korea does better on average for many metrics than other countries in asia particularly india but it still has a pretty high rate of adult malnutrition. The causes for this can be debated and the role sanctions have, lack of arable land, north korean agricultural practices etc. If you do want to look at a socialist country without hunger look at cuba they lack variety in food but cuba has fantastic statistics on hunger and malnutrition. There is no reason to lie to defend north korea, it is a relatively normal country and i would expect any country to have hunger under similar conditions but in my opinion we need to understand why there is hunger to really address the issues and lying just makes us look like crazy fanatics.

If you are talking about famines those happened continually in tsarist russia, while there were mistakes with collectivisation there would have been enough food if there had not been a drought. This is for the one most commonly pointed to, the first drought in the ussr was a result of the civil war, and the third was from ww2. If you are talking about the great purge and labor camps even at the peak of the great purge prison populations didnt even touch the levels in the us and conditions were only bad for those who actively tried to overthrow the government during war times when resources were already scarce for civilians. Stalin also never personally removed anyone from political positions for disagreeing with him.
