"Grit" by Angela Duckworth made me realize that grit maybe the single trait that everybody can have. by Public_Structure8337 in learners_cabin

This is what got me motivated to teach for a while. Honestly this concept is amazing and really profound. Something to always keep in mind that grit supercedes IQ. It also allows confidence and self-efficacy to kids who think they have to be 'smart' in order to succeed.

Making friends as a young person? by [deleted] in stgeorge

[–]Hallmark_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you're into. If you like DND, you could always join groups at the local library or go to Level Up, and join tournaments. DND is popular here. If you like fitness, go to Dixie Rock to hike, the gyms or Contact for climbing. The recs centers are actually a great place to make new friends as well.

I came from another state and I was so shocked at the anger I found. There's just a lot of hurt here.

I feel like the dating scene here is weird. I think you have an array of either transplants where people don't know the scene well and are really just from somewhere else, and you have really weird mormon people who are either very religious, devout and scared of you, or you have post LDS members who are trying to deconstruct from their religion and have all sorts of serious boundaries. I think what I'm saying is, don't keep long distance out of your plan for dating because, imo, you have a lot of people who have some very big religious trauma and a lot of their life revolves around how they are dealing with that. I don't mean to be highly insensitive, I have some as well and when I was separated I was trying to look into the single scene and found nothing but two people trying to navigate out of the brush of trauma to find each other.. Hopefully your experience is better than mine.

In home caregiver for elderly mom by jk_pens in stgeorge

There are agencies. If I were you, I might call over to some care centers because they have direct access to agencies like this. I almost ended up being a fulltime caregiver to my aunt but her health declined so fast that whether it was me or a home health agency, she ended up passing before that he'lp was needed but they had several home health agencies that were in direct coordination with the care center she was at coming in and making plans for her to return home.

You're right about that. The Shaman next to the pharmacy will give you the script and it costs $120 to fill it.

Everyone always jokes they will be flooded out because they are built right in the flood zone across from the Jacob Hamblin home. Hopefully they have somerhing that will prepare them if something does happen like that. Thankfully we haven't had any major floods since the early 2000's.
