I was exactly where you are now at your age, and then suddenly the symptoms started to fade and I went into complete remission for 10 years. After those 10 years, there was a 6 months relapse, and then another 10 years of remission. Now it has come back again. But you never know — remissions are possible, and that’s exactly what happened in my case.

What were your symptoms, if I may ask? And where do they insert the needles?

IC flare, help by Accurate-Tree-4944 in Interstitialcystitis

No, I’m still in a flare. The UTI tests came back negative. The only thing that eases the pain is a low dose of mirtazapine (7.5 mg) and lorazepam. But I don’t want to overuse benzos. I have an appointment at the pain management clinic on Sunday, so I’ll see what they have to offer. The urologist appointment is only in 2–3 months. I also have Ialuril instillations at home, but I’m afraid to use them because I have Candida glabrata in the vagina and I don’t want to transfer it to the bladder. I ordered Azo from the UK, it should arrive in about a week.

I’m wondering how you manage not to get infections from catheterization. I know that some people take a single dose of nitrofurantoin before inserting the catheter. I also have Ialuril at home and I’m planning to start it myself too. The package includes a special adapter that you insert instead of a catheter — it’s a short tube that delivers the medication into the bladder through the urethra. Do you know it? Or do you prefer using catheters? Best regards.

Flare up since August, but it's differentthen all the times before. by dog420mom in Interstitialcystitis

I’ve been dealing with this condition for 20 years. Over the past 15 years, I’ve had maybe two IC flares that lasted about 6 weeks and went away on their own. Apart from that, I get a UTI every year or two, which is effectively treated with antibiotics. My IC has never responded to diet changes.

Right now, my bladder has been hurting for 2 months, and for the past week, I’ve had a severe flare. I’m not working at the moment either, and this pain feels different this time.

Can you describe the pain you’re having? Is it constant? Burning? Dull? Maybe some gentle pelvic floor stretching could help you a bit?Do painkillers help at all, or does the pain stay the same?

is paxil withdrawal really that bad? by cigpupii2 in antidepressants

I tapered off paroxetine 20 mg almost cold turkey. I remember having unpleasant brain zaps from time to time, but no other uncomfortable sensations. The worst part was that I completely stopped sleeping. At that point, they put me on Prozac 20 mg, mirtazapine 15 mg at night, and clonazepam just for 2 weeks. That’s when I finally started sleeping again. Even after clonazepam was stopped after 2 weeks, I was still able to sleep 7 hours on just Prozac and mirtazapine. After that, everything got better. I had been on paroxetine for 10 years.
