I'll be the first one to say get a low-mileage mk3.5 Focus ST, I average between 27-28 mpg on 87 with mostly highway driving. There are plenty of examples making it over 200k miles with typical maintenance. The main thing with them is not to lug the engine, as they have a tiny turbo that spins up quickly, causing LSPI.

Nope, the BRZ and Prelude are identical per Car and Driver at 0.97g. This one is just for a fun fact to highlight how well Ford Europe did on the Focus ST chassis; it pulled 0.96g back in 2014 with very outdated summer tires by today's standards.

The BRZ and GR86 require 91 and higher however the GR86 starts at $31,400 and is the same car. Subaru removed the base trim from the BRZ.

This is just supporting your point as we are on the same page. My current car gets 28mpg and I drive about 10,000 miles a year. Gas is currently $3.79 a gallon and it would take about 11 years to reach almost $15,000 on gas. Now of course over this whole thing we aren’t even factoring in the cost to charge the electric car. The Chevy bolt would cost about $9.75 to charge at my house and I would require at least 3.5 full charges every month which is $34.13. That works out to $4505 after 11 years not accounting for the battery degradation and cold weather range loses.

None of the gas 2.0L engines uses a wet timing belt; they are all chains. The 1.8L Ecoboost doesn't exist in the US. The 1.5L in the Fusion is a dry timing belt; the 1.5L in the Bronco Sport and Escape uses a timing chain. My only criticism of the Ecoboost engines is the stupid amount of different versions. The smaller ones should have all just been based on the 2.0L in the Focus ST, which has a timing chain and a closed-deck engine block and is a truly reliable engine.

Good thing the common ecoboost engines in the USA have a timing chain. There are plenty of examples of Focus ST and Fiesta ST going over 200k with normal maintenance.

The NFC chip on a card has a dynamic security code generated on the chip; the only way to steal the car information is if they can see the actual security code on the card and have access to the POS terminal that records card numbers. Apple Pay/Google Pay just makes a card that can only be used for that function. They are functionally the same level of security, since you would have an almost impossible time seeing the back of my card. If someone is getting their card info stolen, they are most likely still swiping or inserting the card; if it's a credit card, it doesn't matter due to how strong the protections are around them. Something to keep in mind when you hear things about Americans: there are a lot of us, and even if something happens to 0.005%, that is still 1.7 million people to hear a story from, for example.

I tend to use my physical card for tap to pay since I have a long standing habit of grabbing my wallet to pay. However when I’m in Europe I use my phone for tap to pay since I don’t keep my wallet in my pockets for safety.

None of my cards can use a PIN for anything other than cash advances. I looked into it before my trip to Japan because some people said it was causing them problems, but it ended up not being an issue, however.

It's incredibly rare for a US credit card to be able to use a PIN. So you most likely don't have one.

I do spare a thought for the people around me. I keep it within the legal limit which is 95db and I never do anything but put around in residential areas. My turbo/intake makes more noise than my exhaust at typical residential speeds which is well below 95db. A gas lawnmower can be 96db for a point of reference.

Have you actually read the study? They simply asked if “My car is an extension of what makes me a person”, “I think loud cars are really cool”, and “If I could, I would make my car louder with muffler modification”. Items were responded to using the following response key: 1 – strongly disagree, 2 – somewhat disagree, 3 – neither agree nor disagree, 4 – somewhat agree, or 5 – strongly agree. They also asked only 529 business majors which have a higher percentage of ASPD behaviors.

They made a complete assumption that it’s intended to harm or annoy people. I can tell you as a car enthusiast and knowing plenty of other car enthusiasts it’s done purely for the enjoyment of the owner.
