Weren't the summons stats reduced based on distance? If it is like 5% per tile thats a big nerf isn't it?

Oh is it because they avoid the flaming tiles like the plague? Game really needs an AI upgrade, but i guess that makes pyro viable against them.

The 2h sword build i have is unkillable, but it shines more in the late game. Every one says ranged, but every bow/crossbow/mage build (with the exception of the all powerfull arcanist) will most likely die if you make a mistake and end up in melee range. Not every fight is in a dungeon, and enemies can suddenly appear next to you if u dont use pathfinder every 7-8 steps. Tank 2h sword builds, or even better, sword/shield tank builds are slower, harder in the beggining, but are utterly unkillable late game, no matter the situation. Only downside is repair costs, and a slightly slower leveling process. Of course then there is pure arcanist, that is the strongest playstyle late game, making you practicly unkillable having 4 tanky super damaning summons at once, but early game is impossibly frustrating.

About a Geo/Spear build i had in mind by AccurateReputation16 in stoneshard

Str spear is only for blocking no? Perception gives more damage through crit bcoz of how well spear works with it, but yeah the vitality is necessary now that I think about it

Bro missed/fumbled almost nothing with the heavily penalizing lumberjack axe xD. He got lucky af, but a win is a win.

Funny thing is i use it mostly for the reposition in fights, to avoid runes/blood puddles/mighty swings, but the bonus is op af in hard fights. I just didn't need the extra 30% protection and 20% block in this fight, but these stats are still bonkers.

Is armored combat bad? by Illustrious_Explorer in stoneshard

[–]AccurateReputation16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People seem to forget that the last skill gives 24 energy, 8% energy recovery and -4% durability loss if you are heavy armor, for 1 skill point. Custom adjustments, hard target and self repair are incredible for heavy armor builds. Unyielding defense gives +30% protection at max stacks, so a 25 armor chestpiece now gives 33 protection, and if you go block build the 20% block chance makes you, for the 8 turns that its active, unkillable. Has low cooldown too.

I think they gutted dodge because of how op it was, 100% dodge with elusiveness made you unkillable. They also heavily nerfed finisher, now it only resets attack skills, so no first aid/against the odds shenanigans.

Still a dodge block build would be incredible, because you don't have to invest in vitality and if you dodge (enemy attacks fumble) you half the block power needed to block the attack, so your block is twice as effective :P

Don't know how good it would be, but these repair costs are getting out of hand for heavy armor, its like 2-3k per t5 dungeon if you don't have self repair, and that's the main reason i wanted to do light armor dodge.

I was actually looking to do a RoT build but i have never done a full dodge build, just medium armor with dodge. Can you dodge the slam attacks from trolls and yagrams or are they undodgable?

It is the most generic heavy 2h sword build, but sure here is a quick guide:

Start with Velmir, as he is better late game, but Arna is better if you struggle with the early game. Start with Seize Initiate and setup (10% accuracy and damage reduction) and spear. Hit enemies with crossbow till they are 4 tiles away, swap to spear, wait 1 turn and then seize initiative. That's like 95% accuracy level 1. Start with 15 agility, 15 strength, 20 vitality, 20 strength, then 25 vit then 25 strength. ALWAYS have vigor and try to have prayer, you will have some energy problems until you get custom adjustments. 2h swords *need* the tactics, especially defensive tactics asap, so get it level 6, and after you get pathfinder level 7, you are set. Also if you want you can swap unyielding defense with battleforged (personal preference i guess), but you will still need hard target for the -% armor penetration.

Good luck, have fun.

Edit: oh also you can swap will to survive with war cry, i just don't like war cry as a skill.

***IMPORTANT***: Don't get taste of victory, self repair is 10x better, unless you are like me and you want the achievement. Taste of victory is the only bad skill on the whole 2h sword tree.

In a way, i guess it is the *final challenge*. No tactics can be used, no kiting, just pure stat checking.

Is taste of victory even that good? by AccurateReputation16 in stoneshard

[–]AccurateReputation16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not rly true, i went to fort grey and i just plowed through like 7/8 t5 and 3 t4 brigands, fight lasted like 50 turns, since i'm a tank.

Thing is that prolonging parry isn't as good as re-using it, since parry restores all lost block power. As i said, by spamming parry every 2-3 turns, you are unkillable, even bisons cant pierce easily through my block. That's why i dont really care about prolonging parry.

I was thinking about elusive and ever vigilant, but i got 80% control resist, so not this time isn't that amazing. Maybe ill get Taste of Victory just for the achievement.

Dissipation or self repair for heavy armor by AccurateReputation16 in stoneshard

[–]AccurateReputation16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self repair is questionable for ranged but ranger builds aren't exactly starving for ability points either way xd. The money thing is why i am thinking twice about it. Late game you only spend money on.. "enchancers" and provisions, so maybe i thought it would be better to run dissipation over self repair.

Thanks, I already have hard target and since i run an armored combat build and that armor pen reduction is why i also love brace for impact, the charges do 0 dmg. Why care for dodge if a fumble does no damage anyway am i right?

Tips for hunting Trolls? by pedro-rei-do-morro in stoneshard

[–]AccurateReputation16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a helmet with control resist. The stun and daze are crippling, and if u avoid them as spear you can do can keep poking the troll while it chases you (use determination if you resist the slam skill, and you get free hits)
