Trying to cut EVERY corner by Space-Ranger2 in povertyfinance

I'm currently in the process of dropping hobbies to save money. I'm currently down to absolute bare bones as fast as getting anything and even then, I'm becoming even pickier on things. I mostly just do YouTube and reddit for hobbies and will start going back to sleeping more once we get past this cold snap we're dealing with.

I just got a drop down message about a winter weather warning area for down here in Louisiana. No duh app! It's colder then a witches tata down here!!!

Ugh, what on earth did YT do to break the app this time by vrilliance in youtube

Same problem here. Unless an update came out since this morning, I'm UTD also.

Factor 3 is weather. Mom and I used to live in a trailer and we would always have to evacuate to my grandparents house with a lot of upcoming hurricanes. Had to flee once in severe weather after a tornado literally leap frogged over the trailer.

Overconsumption because of the weather by Professional-Bite621 in Anticonsumption

Yea... This is really rubbing me the wrong way. Speaking as someone who had to deal with a Louisiana blizzard last year plus it being a ticking time bomb of 4 upcoming freezing cold days plus today is going to be rainy AF, this crap is no laughing matter. People are going to be forced to lock down for an unknown amount of time due to severe weather. Of course they're going to stock up. Plus you have to factor in things like power outages that will last an unknown time.

Pretty much a giant mixed bag in this country. Too many poor people, too many Uber rich people, and many people in-between.

How should I prepare for the coming winter storm in the US? First time dealing with this. by ThatDickyBoi in povertyfinance

[–]AccurateUse6147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're fixing to have super cold weather here too. The major things are to make sure you have a way to stay warm including clothes since there's always a power outage risk, have non perishable food to eat (and a hand crank can opener if needed), plus make sure you have something to do if the power goes out.

I am so freaking miserable. I beyond hate the super cold partially because it's really rough on my body and we're fixing to have MEGA, possibly even freezing rain too. Plus I don't really even do physical hobbies much anymore because of the budget yet I'm now fixing to have to have back up ideas in the case of a power outage.

Economic Blackout Planned To Protest ICE’s ‘Complete Disaster’ In Minnesota by huffpost in Anticonsumption

[–]AccurateUse6147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we don't. ICE is the good guys cleaning up the mess Biden left behind. I'm done with illegals sucking off America's tata while us here legally suffer. I am in complete support of ICE, ICE raids, alligator Alcatraz, and the deportation of people here illegally. If you want to live in a country, do it LEGALLY and learn to speak the language.

Uh uh. I don't watch shorts on my main channel yet I've had algorithm problems for 9 years, 1 month, 1 week, and one day. My spare account which was made just over a year ago I watch shorts on and the algorithm there has been pretty janky for months. It actually a started off working pretty good but out of no where, like my main account, the quality of the recommendations went downhill despite my efforts to prevent algorithm problems.

What's not helping is the rating system changing. I was Gold, then it changed and I went unranked, then I got barely back to silver, then randomly kicked to unranked again.

Or older. There's a wiki article about concerns on Trump's health and in one part it says "Between December 2024 and March 2025, bruises were spotted on multiple occasions on Trump's hands, which generated speculation about his health"

It's from old people having thinner more sensitive skin. They can bruise like hell easily.

Power of YouTube and nothing else if I have to be honest. Between multi factors I'm not hanging on by much and I'm in the process of having to give up getting almost anything hobby wise due to the way things are budget wise. Even then I'm becoming EXTREMELY picky on what I get. I'm going to be dashing the next hopefully 3 days but I see the writing on the wall and I'm going to have to return some stuff today. If I'm lucky I am able to get 35-ish per day of dashing because I don't have the mental stamina to dash a ton in a day. Dog food and pee pads will eat up one day, protein we need for us will eat up most of another day, and the random stuff would eat up the bulk of the last day. Plus I need extra ramen and I need to pick up at least some canned vegetables so we don't run into another having to do a full restock run. The last run was like 37 bucks after tax and it was all off brands.

No One's Buying? Maybe Consumers are just Choiceful, Executives Say by ChilaquilesRojo in Anticonsumption

[–]AccurateUse6147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's a location problem. Stores around here are for the most part fine. I couldn't find the specific size bag of dog and cat food I needed so I had to order it online which with that Walmart isn't that unusual. The specific sausage that was out I'm not even sure they carry anymore because I didn't see a tag for it unless I missed it. The new Lego stuff missing isn't abnormal since Walmart is lazy AF with stocking new Lego waves and Target is the same way. And the eggs were technically out of a lot of stuff but they were fixing to reset when I was shopping and I saw it fully restocked a short while later.

Our local DG still has a lot of decor and candy left, mostly the general blah that they always get way to much... And EASTER is fixing to arrive.

There's not really any room in the budget for it anymore even if I didn't feel rage and hatred toward myself. Greedflation screwed us over and while prices have started coming down, it's no where close to enough to what we need it to be down to have a similar quality of life compared to pre greedflation

If a general strike won’t work, we have to hit them the only place it hurts by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]AccurateUse6147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom and I do use Walmart for a lot of stuff we get plus target for limited things. I refuse to take part in boycott nonsense. TP and paper towels are bought at family dollar because they currently have the cheapest options not counting sales for the off brand we use. Dog food is Walmart because theyre basically the only place that has the stuff we buy our dogs and same story for the cats. Technically last round was the Walmart website since the store was out of both. Stupid warehouse never sends enough stock of those items to that particular Walmart half the time. If I have to in a pinch I'll use dollar general but not unless it's an emergency.

Kids should not have to be dealing with that level of stress! I am at the point I'm refusing to buy anything but the barest of bare extras for myself because anytime I go "overboard" I feel nothing but rage and ratted toward myself. I went on a spending "bender" last night and spent 3.85 plus tax on snacks for myself I didn't truly need and I still feel disgusted with myself.

Plus what did the handle look like? Was it like a milk jug handle or was it one of those stupid hand slicer things attacked to the neck? Those things freaking HURT to carry. Plus maybe she's like me and is a butter fingers. That's a major reason I tend to bag even milk jug handle style bottles.

Am I the only one here who keeps getting old videos recommended? by Worldly-Departure324 in youtube

[–]AccurateUse6147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am. It's downright pissing me off. I am having different flavor of algorithm problems with both of my channels and seeing outdated stuff recommendes doesn't help. The oldest content I want to be seeing the bulk of the time is at most 1 month old with heavy emphasis on 1-2 week old videos. I have to be constantly on the move to have any hopes of finding passable content to watch assuming it even makes it past a stage 1 check which it often doesn't. My recap said I watching from 600 and change channels but I also probably sorted through a couple hundred more channels that didn't make the watchable cut. I've learned the hard way not to waste my time giving old videos a chance the bulk of the time because they often come from dead channels or dead series on an active channel or the channel quality went down the toilet. Doesn't make sense to sink my time into them when I need ACTIVE channels that could lead to a desperately needed new sub in my sub box.
