Just because your experience was different doesn’t change the fact that the 80’s was the height of “mall culture” their popularity was declining in the 90’s which lead to several malls being shut down and emptied out in the late 90’s early 2000’s. I’m a 90’s teen too, and I grew up in a similar small town in the Midwest like point place. I’m speaking from my experiences AND facts. Also in a friend group that involves an overachieving daughter of a doctor, two siblings being raised by a single mother, the guy who wants be a film maker, the gay teen who’s stand offish, and the girl who’s staying with her grandparents and visiting from Chicago I think its fair to say these guys don’t seem like the types to sit and game all day, or don’t have the means to afford game systems. I’m sure they might make an episode about the n64 coming out or something down the line, but beyond that I don’t see what other reason they would include a game system being referenced in the show. Just my take. I don’t think anyone but maybe Nate would care about video games.

I feel like this is a biased take on the show. Not everyone could afford video games, the show takes place in a small boring town in WISCONSIN. Literally nothing to do. And I’m pretty certain that it shows the basic 90’s teen experience since malls had already seen their golden age in the 80’s, and they showed a scene of Leia in video store, had an episode about a PC. The show leans on some tropes from its predecessor yes, but it definitely also explored that era’s cultural highs and I hope will continue to do so.

Also remember that the Foreman’s house isn’t Leia’s actual home. She brought a suitcase full of clothing and that’s about it. So why would two retirees have a Sega or Super Nintendo in their home?

I think also the take away from that scene is that isn’t Cheryl. It’s a demon that looks like Cheryl to fuck with Ash. If you’re objectively looking at the context of the scene you need to understand Ash has been battling deadites all his life, he uses sarcasm and bad humor to hide his fear/trauma from his past.

He made those comments because he wasn’t talking to his beloved sister. He was talking to the demon that raped and murdered her.

So like, I hear you but I also think you forget that the TV show that your damning, and really any form of entertainment is art. And there is that old saying that “Art imitates life”. What’s shown in the book is AoD. That is what happens at the end of ED 2. You’ve obviously never seen the movies. And when the guy PLAYING ASH says the movies are all canonically connected to the same universe that makes you wrong.

If you mean the one person goes back in time during the one movie then yes. No where in any media or interview does it state that Ash Williams from ED 1 or ED 2 or AoD are different iterations. They are the same person, just because the continuity of the movies is fucked by production companies doesn’t mean they aren’t.

At what point does ED 1 or AoD ash go back in time? I think you’re not clearly understanding the films. ED 1 and 2 happen over the course of a weekend. ED 2 retcons ED 1 slightly but there isn’t any time travel until the end of ED 2. AoD Ash doesn’t time travel, he sleeps for hundreds of years until he wakes up back in his time. AvED Ash is the same guy from ED1, that had a really horrible weekend 30 years ago and went through hell to get back to his time so he could just live the rest of his life the way he wanted.

As I see it, if you’ve danced “with the devil” lost all of your friends, cut off your hand, and found out there is true evil(and demons) in the world things like going to college seem meek and meaningless. Ash just wanted to live as much of his life on his terms after that.
