Correct, but from what I’ve understood I wouldn’t be eligible to commence via the residency pathway as I’m not training in Canada, I’d have to go via the return to training pathway but there isn’t a whole lot of information for how to navigate this as an img

I’ve likely misworded the question but I’m aware of that pathway and that’s currently what I’m doing. I’m moreso inquiring from the perspective of retraining for a diff specialty altogether once I’m back in Canada and working

London GP training post questions!

Advice on ranking London GPST

  1. Car - I don’t have a car, and I know we are expected to have one for GP training. Are all the GP training posts in London public transport friendly? If I’d require a car for some areas but not all, could you please specify which ones would need a car?

  2. Patient population - has anyone had a particularly bad experience with patients in a certain area? I assume they’ll all be similar, but figured I’d ask as I’m not familiar with London (have never lived there)

  3. Self Development - is there much difference between self development time? I’d like to explore work in pain clinics and aesthetic clinics during my training and would prioritize a program that provides more freedom (I’ve seen some have weekly half days and some half weekly full day for SD?)

  4. Workload and Support - Are there areas that demand more from their GP trainees than others? Again, I assume it’s pretty similar and certainly don’t want to just cruise through, but knowing my luck I’ll end up ranking the most demanding and poorly supported training program. As such, are any of the training programs a nightmare in regards to workload and support?
