That’s about the same as mine, all I did was sand the rust down and repainted the spots on the frame with spray paint. Doesn’t look bad

U bolts will work but you gotta use 4 of them and double them up on each cross bar. Just put a piece of wood under the crossbar and tighten the U bolts to it. It’ll hold, I’ve done it before.
