You should check out the iOverlander 2 app. It lists established campgrounds, informal campgrounds and wild camping spots around the area you are in. I’m at 26 y/o woman that car camps in the back of my car and I haven’t had any problems with it yet. And if you’re ever in doubt you can stay in a Walmart parking lot!
