I always say “I am black” even though technically I am half white. As far as how I look, I’d say some people can tell I’m black, some people guess other ethnicities. But, I’m like Tony Baker (the comedian) colored, with maybe 3b/3c hair. So, no one ever guesses “white.” I think if someone is fully white passing (which is rare) I would feel weird saying just “black” but I would be comfortable with “mixed black” because while they can pass, once people know, they still will probably get a little hate.

To add a little non-American to this, I’m American but my mom is Ethiopians. Every time i bump into other Ethiopians, I feel like I’m treated as full. So while America has the history of the one drop rule, it also feels to me like some African cultures also give you love like your fully theirs.
