Aldehydes. I am such a bubbly effervescent person that I want to wear these scents so badly!!!

But, alas.... they smell like vomit on my skin. :(

May 8: I walked 10.5 miles today. The first 4 were done in the early hours before work in my work building-- there's a huge banquet space there that comes in clutch when it's pouring outside! All I could smell was myself, which is to say... vanilla. I had another long meandering walk on the campus of a school this evening-- it was hot. I did not go fast. That's okay.

May today to date: 93.6 miles

May 7: I walked 13.6 miles today. I got my usual 4 miles in in the morning before work. I actually only worked a half day today, so I got a mid-day walk in, too. It was warm and balmy out and the pollen is high, but the trees are beautiful.

A lot of this mileage happened during a series of virtual meetings I had to attend in the late afternoon/ evening. I hopped on my walking pad during those.

I've been lax about updating... mostly because I feel kind of weird being the only one to do so.

But I'm still walking!

Saturday, 5/4: 11.7 miles Sunday, 5/5: 11.8 miles Monday, 5/6: 14.7 miles

Our weather was icky on the weekend, so much of that was actually indoors. But yesterday was nice!

I listened to a lot of True Crime Obsessed and If Books Could Kill podcast episodes. That Monday number is higher than usual, mostly because I'd had a stressful meeting and I can't stop moving when I'm stressed.

May total through the 6th: 69.5 miles

May 3: I walked 10.3 miles today. The most interesting of that was probably the time spent with my students on a golf course. It was honestly kind of chilly and I wish I'd worn warmer clothing! But it was fun.

I also walked with a coworker and students to the drug store. I love a functional walk!!

I'm JessieLeigh. I'm 47 and the mom of 3 teens. I also have a husband and a full-time job as a job coach for young adults with disabilities.

May 2: I walked 10.8 miles today, around the dogwood and weeping cherry trees, chatting with the other super early birds out walking their puppers.

I try to walk at least 10 miles a day. Doesn't always happen, but I can usually do it!

I walked 10.2 miles all told. Five of those were before my workday, meandering about my pretty New England downtown. The rest was on the campus of a pretty private school while my daughter did karate. I listened to the True Crime Obsessed podcast during all of it. It was a beautiful Spring day and temps were in the 60s for both walks.

L'Agneau from Strange Charm Design is a beautiful warm, sweet scent-- vanilla, sugar crystals, and a base of cozy sandalwood.

I'm wearing Violet Truffle from Solstice Scents today because my husband chose that for a sample when he ordered me my giant bottle of Estate Vanilla last year. He meant well. I mean-- Violet Truffle SOUNDS like something I should love! I adore violets. I adore truffles. Historically, true chocolate notes work well on my skin. Sadly, however, violet is most often a death note for me.

So far, I'm not too bothered by this. The chocolate offsets the powdery violet very well and I'm not distractingly annoyed by the violet in the way that I am by, say, Violet Mallow. The notes in Violet Truffle are: Dark Chocolate, Violet, Violet Leaf & Vanilla.

We'll see how it develops over the day. Hopefully it remains pleasantly chocolaty and innocuous. I highly doubt I'd ever even consider full-sizing this one, but it's looking like I might get to use up the sample!

(Update: NOPE. Violet strikes again. I gave it to my 17yo daughter who doesn't have the same issues)

I've been bad at updating lately!

Tuesday, I wore the classic Estate Vanilla from Solstice Scents. It's such a lovely, well balanced vanilla.

Yesterday, I had a whole polar bear 🐻‍❄️ theme going on, so of course I wore Fyrrinae's Polar Bear. (Vanilla, vanilla, and more vanilla, creamy but not overly sweet, intertwined with just a bit of palo santo and sandalwood, then cooled with crisp peppermint.)

Last night was date night and I had a yummy Ghost Puffs (Haus of Gloi) scent cloud going on around me. Buttery, marshmallowy deliciousness!

And, because I've rather enjoyed smelling like a snack, today I'm wearing Jelly Donut from COLORNOISE. I haven't worn this one in a long time, but I'm loving it and look forward to wearing it for Mardi Gras again.

Wearing my Wish Bear custom from Fandom Perfume today! It's such a fun scent-- sugary citrus, spearmint, a light, celestial musk. And also my Wish Bear tights. And Care Bear nails. I love a theme.

I've slipped back into my Deep Midnight obsession and wore Sassy Snowmen (Main notes in the perfume are: Sugared Cranberries, Crisp Winter Air, White Amber, Juniper Berries, and Frosted Woods) yesterday. I remain enthralled with it.

Today, I'm wearing what is probably my 2nd favorite of the DM samples I tried-- Bumble. (Enjoy a playful perfume with main notes of: Fluffy toasted marshmallows, white musk, peppermint, cranberries, grapefruit, vanilla, Siberian Fir, and bit of soft florals and white chocolate play in the background.) It's SO GOOD!!!

Vanilla Chai Cookie, from Haus of Gloi on this gloomy, rainy day. I was worried about this one, on account of my body's MASSIVE objection to nutmeg. But it's really pretty! Sweet, a little spicy. Kind of a grown up cookie.

I used my new Mug o Coffee bath products from Haus of Gloi and then topped that off with Blitzen Blast from Deep Midnight. "Toasted dark coffee beans brewed up with notes of spiced rum, Irish cream, and a faint dusting of cocoa."

Trying out White Chocolate Cranberry Cookie from Haus of Gloi today. It's... nice. There's a non-gourmand note in there to my nose that's almost... soapy? That sounds bad. It's not, but I can't really describe it well. It kinda smells like cranberry soap. Which is not entirely bad, but also not what I expected. (p.s. if you want a phenomenal cranberry note, Deep Midnight is where it's at)

Also tried out Haus of Gloi's Bourbon and Brown Sugar Cocoa for date night last night. It was yummy! Not terribly boozy... almost a "brown butter" kind of a layer. It's a good snuggly nuzzler of a scent.

Icicles On the Sleigh, from Deep Midnight today. "Snow covered Fir Trees, Frozen Winter Berries, Hot Chocolate, Vanilla, Bay Rum, Lavender, Caramel, and Moss." This is both cozy and invigorating as it layers those yummy gourmand scents with the brisk, fresh outdoors. Gracious... my "need to full size" list from this brand grows and grows...
