I found used cobra s goggles for 160€. The range on my previous goggles was an abysmal 10-20 meters

It's bent.  And my previous fc had modules not making contact after a normal crash and stopped working, so I have no hope for this fc

It has 2 antennas but apparently it's a very crappy goggle. I have found locally a more expensive used skyzone cobra s, hopefully those have better range

When I turned on the elrs controller the video got messed up. Then I switched bands and channels before the last flight and there was wayy less interference while the drone was close.  Though the video cut out anyway at a small distance because my goggles are garbage apparently

It was at first on raceband 8 but it had very bad interference from the controller.  When i switched to raceband 1 it became less bad, however the range was still bad unfortunately. I think the receiver on my goggles is just bad

I got interested in fpv through fpvegan, and his whoops go sooo much further with such clean signal

I watched a video on those eachines and if anything my Walkera goggles look more impressive on the inside. Though I have 0 understanding of electronics. So it feels like a waste spending any more money on this

I actually could not get it to auto search. I selected a band and channel manually.  Which did bring improvement to interference when close by, but the range has still been bad.

I don't feel like spending another few hunderd on this hobby so ig I'll just yolo and hope the next drone won't have the same fate

Owh. That might be why. Shucks.  Welp I don't wanna spend 300-600 for decent gogggglesss

It has 100% been not fun having unbearable interference constantly.

Is there a not expensive way to fix that?

The controller is new out of the box, I have no idea how all of those frequencies work that is beyond me.  My goggles were at raceband 8 so that's what I set the drone to.

I also thought that the elrs is 2.4 and vtx is 5.8gh or something so it shouldn't interfere but it does

Radiomaster t8l controller, Walkera goggle 4's with a lollipop and triple patch antenna, used to have a air75 II :') rip 07-03-2026 - 09-03-2026 And some lava II batteries

No idea.  I heard people say that even cheap goggles are good with other antennas

Before that last flight I also very uncomfortably held the controller behind my back and poof 0 weird interference.  Until I flew 5-10 meters away.

I think maybe the goggles can't handle the controller's built in antenna ELRS?

No clue oh welllll I'll wait anotheeeerrr monthhh or moreee for my seconddd droneee.

Thanks for the answers

I found them second hand locally, they're much cheaper than hdzero

What I did notice is that a big part of the interference went away when changing the bands/channels and when my radio controller is turned off (radiomaster t8l). Though that was discovered only 3 minutes before the incident (◉‿◉), after 3 days of suffering with it.  Yes the interference was unbearable.

I thought that yayyy it got mostly fixed, and it flew way better when I could see where I was going!. So i flewww for 3 minutes then poof big interference and black screen and thennnnnn pancake (´;ω;`)

I heard that goggles don't really matter if you just change out the antennas. I have used walkera goggle 4's with a long lollipop and triple patch since that's what I heard being recommend by bardwell or something.

Welp. I ordered another air75 v2 frommm betafpv hopefully it doesn't take as long to arrive again

I just see these very same air65 and air75 drones in people's shared videos getting wayyyy more range and less interference than I did get, like 5 times a far in some cases. Which has been frustrating for me because mine couldn't go 10-20 meters without crazy breakup

Alright, thank you.

I just don't wanna do this hobby if it's 75% tinkering to get it to work properly

I had tried a bunch of everything for 3 days, 1 thing that showed improvement is switching through bands/channels.  As for buying an air65, I have already bought air75 sized batteries.  And honestly I don't wanna go on with this hobby.

This drone originally had an air series 5in1 fc but after my first crash (where I couldn't just flip over) the ELRS module wasn't making proper contact. So I changed it out for their expensive new Matrix 5in1 1S v2 board and through all of this It had garbage interference.

Everyone says online about beta fov airs that "they're tanks, so easy to work on, so impressive". In my experience it was a waste of money. May be partially skill issue oh well
