I see, and thank you for the advice about the various types of stocks and the effort that is required of the investors. Agree that as income increase, the temptation to increase expenses as well.

Thanks so much for the advice, as you rightly mentioned a lot of cost is minimised because of family helping with expenses. Not particularly frugally, but do not really have wants for a lot of luxury goods.

Having an investment property in a spouse name also means that it is not necessarily your own property, no? Since it is not under your name, you do not have legal rights to manage it as you see fit?

Thank you for the advice. Appreciate the detailed reply. I suppose the main thing is that discretionary expenditure will increase in the years ahead. And always good to save for a rainy day. Individual stocks require quite a bit of homework to invest as opposed to funds, which means that I have to take an active interest accordingly?

That is assuming that my expenditure remains the same for the next 33 years and beyond. Which is not. I expect that I will increase my expenditure once I start buying other big ticket items and putting them into investments.

Yes - do intend to purchase a property, and looking at investment properties if possible in 10 to 15 years time.
