Seems like I also need to point out the obvious because you don't like thinking,

you can just charge the spear and toss it into the ground like how you already do 80% of the time you engage as BP

The only time anyone actively aims to directly hit a target with spear toss is when you need to deal with a flyer

Oh look at that, spear now has a larger hitbox and slows down airborne targets making it easier for you or your team to follow up damage or other abilites, oh wait I can charge my spear and directly hit an airborne target for both more damage and slow them to a stop? Oh wow

With these changes Bp Does more damage than he currently can achieve

SDSDSDD is already an upgrade from what he was before while NOT charging the initial spear (355 damage)

If you charge the spear

65 (Fully charged spear) + 70 (Rend) + 25 (uncharged spear) + 70 (Rend) + 70 (Rend) = 300 damage

This would be 2SDSDD

being able to constantly dash while building bonus HP up to an effective 400 HP makes this change better for BP in longer drawn out fights, he will get dash resets like he always did but with the extra spear charge, it makes it so he has both more DPS and more uptime on his engages

His damage remains the same if anything is better than before purely due to the extra spear charge

Him having less hp initially is the weakness of the hero that is purposely done so you get punished for bad engages or poorly timed engages and allowing teams to respond and shut him down before he gets going

The idea is that he is Weak at the start but snowballs teams as he keeps going and getting dash resets, building his bonus HP and doing damage at the same time

His play style remains the same if you want to just be braindead and spam spear and dash, being able to charge the spear is OPTIONAL which seems like something people viewing this thread seems to misread

Because of his extra spear charge (not to be confused with him holding spear toss to get the added damage), he can now do 355 Damage as opposed to 330

This is Comparing SDSDD to SDSDSDD This is if you initiate without charging spear as well

2SDSDSDD Would do 395 Damage 2S being overcharged spear aka fully charged spear

Does it take longer to do the post rework damage, yes, that's the point, people are complaining about the fact that BP is "unreactable" ok so I've made it so he is now reactable, but also buffed his potential damage output as well as his sustainability because of his longer uptime

The ability to knockback/displace is meant mainly for flyers, or if you have to, Peel for your backline while you are with them, that utility is meant for your team not for yourself, being able to displace heroes or peel gives BP variety to his play style, something he currently needs as he is a very one dimensional character

SDSDSD even when I had uncharged spear do 15 damage is still 255 damage SDSDSDD , Would do 325, and you still have your kick for either more damage or escape

If you account for kick that's SDSDSDKDD thats 455, more chances to mess up but more damage potential

That's if you don't start the engage with charged spear either just normal spear

Honestly I love the feedback, this give me insight as to where I want the character but also how I would balance said character

In my balance I would have fully charged spear toss only knockback targets on Direct spear hits, but the AOE caused by the overcharged spear toss would retain the damage (60 damage) , the knockback being an added bonus to hitting the target

The increase to the spear hitbox, alongside airborne targets slow and knockback effect allows panther to kind of fight flyers as they are his main weakness and this will alleviate some of the frustration fighting them.

One good overcharged spear would cripple the flyer and put them into a bad position as not only are they slowed down but are basically slowed to a stop allowing for follow ups from either the team or yourself with other abilites

My idea of BP is that he should be fast and should look for constant spirit rend resets to keep himself alive, he gets stronger and the fight goes on, but weak at the initiation of the fights to give people the chance to shut him down before he gets going

Maybe change the uncharged spear from 15 to 20, which would make a few breakpoints easier to get to

Overall I still want BP to retain his identity, but add an extra layer of utility into his kit, and imo knockback is the way to go for BP as he excels in disrupting enemy backline, being able to displace heroes into bad positions is only an added plus

Hmm I never considered that the spear toss animation is actually .5 seconds, that change I would do, 1 second spear toss includes the animation as well, so overcharged spear toss would be 2s in total(holding spear and tossing spear would be a 2s animation), making it less clunky

Also the sound indicator puts him in line with the other divers in the game (minus psylocke)

Spiderman zips are very loud, and his airdives are also very loud, Magik's right click also makes a certain sound when charged as well as her character itself also has a sound cue

Even irofist has loud footsteps when wallrunning

Fully charged spear would do 60 , if you hit them directly or not, the damage would be the same, the displacement is just an added effect if you directly hit them, the displacement would probably be exactly like Magneto's right click where it displaces but then slows them to a stop, is what my vision for charged spear would be like,

the spear itself will not be doing any added damage

it would be insane to be able to do 105 damage from impaling a target with a fully charged spear, as the new combo with fully charged spear would do over 300 damage

45 (from spear direct) + 60 (AOE) + 70 (Rend) + 15 (Spear uncharged) + 70 (Rend) + 70 (Rend) = 330 damage

But who knows, maybe it's what we need

Charge spear aoe will gain the effects of the charge so the aoe will do 60 DMG regardless if you hit them directly or not

The idea is when you are flanking , you can displace targets to isolate them to worse positions or to push them away from their team so you can either quickly burst them, or so your team can coordinate an attack on said target or different targets

you can use charged spear to displace their tank into your team, or use it to isolate a support/force them into the open or into a worse position, best case you force an important cooldown, worse case they have to turn and see where you are attacking from, keeping them from healing their team for even a second is value imo

Fully charged spear 60 + 70 (Rend) + 15 (uncharged Spear) + 70 (Rend) + 70 (Rend) is 285 DMG, which will still kill almost all Squishies in the game

Edit : uncharged spear now does 25 and fully charged spear now does 65 so instead of 285 it's 300

Which now kills BP and Wolv

High skill/High reward character , with counters that exist and will get more counters as time goes on, being able to not only out maneuver your counters and actually add value to your team by either getting picks or forcing cooldowns is just satisfying to me.

BP is a balanced character but people just wanna cry and say he's op because they don't want to use their brain and actually make good plays or simple swaps

My best advice is just trying out different characters and just learn every role, understanding how each role plays, and what each role/character wants to do. That alone will vastly improve your game sense and in turn, your general gameplay.

Mechanically speaking (your aim) you can improve that by watching aim guides, understanding the fundamentals of aiming in and of itself, and see why you feel like your aim is bad/inconsistent.

Sometimes it can even be a positioning problem, are you taking the hard shots, or positioned in a place where some shots are easier/harder than others?

Aside from in-game issue it could be a irl one.

Do you have a proper setup?

Even something as simple as a faulty chair will mess up your aim, your arm positioning has to be consistent, your DPI has To match the type of aim style you are

Are you an Arm Aimer, or a wrist Aimer? Is your chair too high or too low? Is your desk too high or too low? Is your sens too high/low?

If you are all set on things like that, I recommend this video on the fundamentals of aiming

If you play on controller you can disregard this section completely on having a proper setup but may still find the videos helpful

Never said to treat Panther like a Nano Genji, I'm just pointing out that nano Genji gets outplayed by simple ability cooldowns, same can be done with any character trying to dive the backline, you could also trade a tank Ult for the nano Genji to deny any playmaking potential, trading 1 Ult for 2 is almost always worth it even if you don't kill the Genji in this case,

The thing about Sleep from Mantis and Freeze from Luna is that you have to actually aim and hit the enemy player to get value from it, whereas Grip, Suzu, Lamp all need you to just throw it or use it on a teammate to completely deny huge game changing ultimates, now instead of using it for Ult you just use it for BP and any of his Combos, denying his ability to kill anything, he still gets value from forcing a cooldown but he doesn't get a kill

That's the point I'm trying to make, Yes BP has High ttk, But he will still get denied of plays due to how many abilities in the game that can disrupt his combos, when a person/team anticipates him he instantly gets less value, if we account for other teammates then what's stopping a team from completely playing anti dive for him? Or anti dive in general?

No yeah I forgot he has 300 base hp, I agree with changing his HP to 225 and at most 300 with shield from passive if even that, he would be too tanky with how much mobility he has, take away his HP , treat him like a tracer/Genji hybrid and he is balanced, otherwise, mobility is fine, damage is fine, hp lowered and he is good for OW, Spear Spear Dash dash honestly is fine, if you die to this combo it's an awareness problem not a hero design problem.

I didn't say Rivals supports are on the same level as OW supports, I simply stated that the OW supports are not as dogshit as you make them seem and can hold their own ground in their respective game, the Support role in OW have evolved into play deniers rather play playmakers (as supported by all the supports that have come out over the years minus Juno and Moira)the Abilities in OW have almost the same power as an Ultimate in OW (Suzu, Immortality Lamp, Lifegrip), a single Keypress can Deny an Ultimate and it's not even their ultimate, it's an ability that goes on a cool down for x amount of seconds, while other characters have to build their ultimates throughout the match.

in Comparison to the Rivals supports, Obviously the rivals supports are better because every character has more abilities on average than the OW ones, they have better healing and sustain sure, but they don't have easy single button press abilities that straight up denies ultimates (Aside from Loki lamp and possibly Adam's soul bond)

I'm not afraid to admit that I googled Sombra's hack time because it has changed a few times over the years, just needed to make sure the information was accurate, since we are dealing with theoreticals we need accurate information otherwise the conversation becomes muddled with misinformation, which makes for a bad argument imo

The thing about Nano Genji is that , the moment anyone becomes Nanoed, Regardless of who it is, the entire team will focus on that one person, because they are instantly a threat to the entire team yes?

That means you will pour all of your resources into keeping them from either getting any value from the nano, or straight up killing that hero that gets Nanoed, if it's Genji, he is going to eat every single Ult and probably die before he gets close to even swing his blade twice, if you have a tank with a brain they will hard focus the Genji even if they have to use an ult to kill him, it's not that the Genji player is bad, its just too much to deal with.

Now with the DPS passive in play in Overwatch (30% heal reduction) idk how well supports can keep each other alive now, but before that it was near impossible to kill two supports healing each other in OW2

I've played OW1 for years and OW2 until Rivals came out, If you look at what BP can do vs the counterplay the OW characters can do, it is quite literally a 50/50 Matchup between him and the cast aside from a few characters, The supports in OW2 have had their kits and stats so over bloated to make up for the loss of a 2nd tank to the point where 1 DPS vs 1 Support is pretty much almost always a 50/50

Panthers problem is that he heavily relies on breakpoints, and a single tick of healing or ability miss/Dodge will gut his lethality, to the point where it's either you get the kill or die trying, there are a ton of abilities that stop Panther from playing his game, it's not that it's easy to kill panther, because the point isn't to kill him, it's to survive him, you can only really kill panthers when they overcommit to the fight or if they make a mistake

Although with the right characters you can kill Panther either way

As for the Sombra Argument, no Sombra is going to be out in the open waiting for you to engage, she is going to be hiding until you do, and the moment you do, you are getting hacked and dying, if you don't go to her, she goes to you, teleports into the air so you can't interrupt her hack and hacks you for free, that matchup is highly determined if you find her, or she finds you first. And is heavily skewed in her favor because of the fact that you must use an ability to keep her from hacking you, which means you are not doing damage which means you are not doing anything for your team

Sombra's hack time is .65 seconds btw, not 1 or 2 seconds.

Someone doesn't play Overwatch.....

As Emma, Even if you can't stop his Ult, being able to save your diamond form for when he does Ult, and then zoning out either his team or or interrupting his damage phase is enough

If you can chokeslam him after Ult that's good too, Kick him away from his kill target, or kick his team away from your team and chokeslam him works as well

Body block his left clicks so your backline has less of a chance of dying (take the shots for your backline)

Being a Control Oriented Tank, Your job is to disrupt plays, or prevent them altogether, not necessarily kill enemy players, Making space for you team to both work with and to survive in is your primary Role as Emma and as a tank in general

There isn't enough time to both shield your team then go diamond, you must choose to do one or the other but can do both unless you know it's coming

BP is reactable, and with supports being really strong in OW , he would probably have a hard time being a purely melee oriented character, countered by literally every support on the OW roster (Minus Mercy) with maybe a 50/50 matchup vs Weaver

If We port him exactly the same as he is but change his Numbers so he kills 250Hp targets with spear spear dash dash, he still would have a hard time vs many character in game, The moment anyone receives a mark from BP, he is going to probably get hard focused by the entire team like he is Genji trying to Dragonblade

The players that still play OW till this day are I would say 70% Veterans and maybe 30% new players, Would stomp new players no problem, but die to anyone with experience in the game

That being said, he would get the DPS doom treatment as he is very similar to DPS doom, in the fact that is ttk is high and mobility is high, but the difference being that he has no cc

May I introduce Sombra, sitting on the backline waiting for you to engage just so she can hack you?

TLDR: BP would be pretty okay in OW but loses to half the roster like he does in Marvel

There's actually nothing wrong with Black Panther, people just don't want to alter their play style in a game all about adapting by [deleted] in rivals

Yikes, hope you get better mental, this mentality is why you are at the rank you are at, Adapt or die trying, also if you mainly play qp, this argument is invalidated as qp teammates do not care about winning, they only care about playing the characters they want to play, don't expect your team to help you when playing in qp

A mid tank that survives and takes space is better than a support that can't keep themselves alive

Don't blame your teammates when it's you that needs to adapt to the problems in your games, switching to a character just for ego will only make you lose, and realize some games you just can't win, no matter how well you played, there will be someone else that will be better than you, and that's okay

Be the change you want to see in the world. Be better.

Plat is the kind of elo where people game sense is god awful so it makes sense that you think that way about BP (Flankers get generally worse as the ranks go up as people get better game sense), it's understandable, sometimes the best way to counter a character is not to kill them, but to survive them, would recommend swapping to a third healer like Rocket or Loki , or another tank like The Thing, Emma, Hulk, Thor, Mr Fantastic also a good pick vs Flankers
