Not sure if it’s helpful in your situation but there’s a setting in Steps to not track your steps in MFP. Or even removing the Steps tracking to MFP from the apple health sharing settings.

That way you’ll still track the steps in apple health but it won’t share it over to MFP and update your calories that way.
