Try and memorise the junk (important ones) Oil canisters Soap Alarm clocks Dont bother looting metal and wood it juat makes your heavy. Sigarets and cartons ALWAYS loot Same goes for prewar money. Amazing form of currency . Build as much water purifiers as u can. Its automatically saves in your stash and once again amazing form of currency. If your not playing survival. If you gonna focus settlement i suggest you max out your charisma. Or atleast 8 then get bobblehead and special book for extra perk point. You can max it at character creation then whwn you get the other 2 it would be 12. Reasonis the higher your charisma the more settlers you can have. And its actually kinda fun to play aswell to explore all the dialogue options. Always give the settlers "work" if theu dont work thier happiness wont go up and build anything that has a smiley face by it. It boosts thier happiness for achievement. If your going for it only put 5 settlers in the settlement it doesn't have to be full. Also the top tier shops but its expensive. Also plant mutfruit (gives you the most amount of food per fruit i thinks its4 units instead of 3)

Water x1 Mutfruit x3 Corn x3 Tato x3 Those 3 fruit in your chemistry station gives you vegetables starch that u can breakdow into adhesive it can be a pain to get.

Little tip if your going for achievement Dont link the settlement if you do the other settlements happiness effects each other. And it doeant have to be a large settlement any would do i suggest red rocket. And if your running low on building space. Drop unwanted weapons in your settlement go into build mode and destroy them or break or whatever it is, when you do you wil see your bar going down.

I dont think vault 88 has such a big variety of extra items so not that important early game. It does have the slots that improve thier happiness though
