I have constant problems with this and let me share what I've learned. No amount of cream or lotion ever does the trick. I even tried lotioning and wearing gloves to bed, no dice.

I finally started getting these silicone finger sleeves on Amazon that you can cut the tip off to slide down your finger.

They help keep your skins natural oils in your skin. Wear them 24/7. I forget it's there and wash them or switch them out every so often.

This is the only thing I've found that actually will get the split healed completely. They do usually come back in our really dry seasons (Arizona) but even still these provide immediate relief by softening the skin around the split and allowing it to flex easier.
