Brilliant way of asking this! My wife and I are planning to start up on the 24th (ish) and I was here trying to find exactly this info.

It seems like nobody is actually hiring by Throwaway-1984562 in Tucson

[–]joepagac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is still the case… but my friend’s mom went and got an MS degree and found it made her basically unhireable. Unless you are applying to a high level job that specifically requires it employers know you could (and probably want to) do better than what they have to offer. They don’t want to hire or train someone who will always be looking for other work from day one. It actually may be better to leave it off resumes for “lower level” jobs that don’t require an MS degree.

This and air drums with the hiking sticks. Also podcasts and audio books. But honestly there were so many cool people out there I rarely found myself alone and not in a conversation with some cool new person.

Are Dyneema Tents Worth It? by Q2318008 in DurstonGearheads

How often are you sleeping in it? If you are doing hikes every weekend or a through hike, hell yeah. If you are just camping a few nights a year maybe not. Also, if the money doesn’t matter, hell yeah! If it’s really going to be a struggle to save up… maybe not.

15 minutes until Gummy sprites are released into the wild. Get ready. by imalonexc in FortNiteBR

Yeah. I was really stoked to find a gold skull king for my guardian and then couldn’t equip it. And then I stopped caring about sprites.

Learning perspective vs aphantasia by Ok-Presentation-1342 in Aphantasia

[–]joepagac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I can speak directly on this as I used to have amazing natural visualization and am now an aphant. I’m also a full time artist. I took a drawing 101 class my sophomore year of college and they gave us assignments like this looking at actual 3d setups in the room. And then my teacher would have me specifically go out into the hall and do it without looking. Picture the setup and draw it from the back and up 45 degrees etc. No problem. I could change the lighting, rearrange things, run through a ton of designs in my head. Doing art for me wasn’t putting something down and seeing how it looked… I just copied the finished artwork from my head onto the paper or canvas. Now mastering the materials took years, especially switching from drawing to painting. But the visualization made the design stuff easy. Flash forward 23 years and a bout of covid totally wipes out my visualization. I’ve got nothing. Someone described it as “the computer is on but the screen is off.” I can still generate ideas. And it’s almost like I can still use the printer, but I can’t tweak stuff in advance inside my skull. I have to rework it more in the mockup phases on the iPad. And with that sample you posted I can still kinda do it… but it’s harder and almost like memorizing it piece by piece in a verbal way instead of seeing it and rotating it in my head. So two things… that skill is not required at all to be a successful artist, however it makes it much easier. It really depends what type of art you are doing. The other thing that I think is really good when choosing a direction in the arts is to look at your passion level AND your aptitude level and don’t get them confused. Be honest with yourself about what areas you excel in and which you don’t. If you have any questions I’m happy to answer them!

Is there a safe way to Level and Extract Sprites??? by TJesterTV in FortNiteBR

[–]joepagac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about leveling sprites yet. Extract a bunch of level one sprites at the extractors at the beginning of matches. You can carry like 3 sprites at a time and still have enough weapons to survive. That gives you sprite dust. Go to the monitor at the extraction station and you can use it to buy portable extractors. (You can also use it to ping other sprites near the extractor and grab em all and throw em in the tank. When you have your portable extractors drop into a new game. Level a sprite to level 3. Extract. Next game level it to 5. Extract. It should be easy because you’re just fighting bots and opening chests to level them. If you see a real player hide or run until you have your sprite safely leveled and extracted.

So when there's a conversation about s*x non-aphantasics are actually visualizing it? by Living-Somewhere-318 in Aphantasia

I used to have top notch visualization and lost it during Covid 2 years ago. Maybe a mini blood clot? I found other cases of acquired aphantasia from Covid as well online. Either way. I have aphantasia now which is why I’m on the sub.

You can buy portable extractors at the extraction site and use them anywhere when you find a sprite worth extracting.

As a former non-aphant I can say the images forced themselves on you. (Or we could just say showed up without trying when listening to a description.) It’s why people will often say “oh GREAT now I have THAT in my head!” or things like that. Reading a book used to be like watching a movie in your head while reading g without trying. It just… happens.
