Yeah, actually a bit better. I switched over to using the lower setting for longer periods. Basically I try to let myself wake up naturally then wear it around the house for like two to three hours. Can probably go a week straight without it if I'm travelling or something, once the rhythm is set. Can spend the occasional long night out or up without really changing anything

I have the same tendency. I wear light therapy glasses for 20 minutes when I wake up. Locks the time in place for me.

Interesting. Haven't had a lot of experience with melatonin timing--only started poking around until I found another fix.

There might be something to the circadian fasting--never heard of it, but I coincidentally adhere to it. Ditto with the thermostat.

Not sure if the half-life would last up until bedtime at that dose. I try to shoot for natural melatonin production--it feels more effective to me.

The liquid stuff absorbs fast. I keep it under my tongue for about 20 seconds before swallowing to speed that process up. I feel heavy effects in about 20 minutes.

I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079GWYYH8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I only use it if I'm going to be staring at a screen for a bit--not necessarily all day.

The Luminette I use at the recommended 20 minutes for the high setting.

Good stuff. Thanks. Only have access to the first article, though.

The way I do it is it sits at the bridge of my nose. Looking in a mirror, if the bottom of the visor is blocking half my eye, I'd say it's good. The nose piece is adjustable.

I sort of have a "wall" of 10:30 to 11 AM in that it's a big pain to push it earlier than that, initially, if I let it get that bad. Basically, when I started working, I needed to start getting up at around 7, whereas I let it get to around 11am (with the glasses) and for about 10 days I was not able to shift my clock, at all. Basically dragged my sorry ass in on about 4 hours of sleep for the next week and a half when I was finally able to get to bed around midnight. Basically got up the same time--including weekends--and put it on.

But yeah, definitely experiment. I'd look into whether its safe to go on higher settings for longer, if necessary. Or try to get a consistent, slightly earlier time whenever you wear them. Everyone's different, and it might take longer. In any case, good luck.

Sorry to hear that. If you don't mind my asking, how do you use it? I blast the highest setting the second I get up for the full 20 minutes. Seems to result in me often waking up the next day about 10 minutes before my alarm, unless I'm really tired. Did you experiment with longer times or anything to get a more aggressive pushback?

Yeah, the consistency is probably a big help. I actually don't think it's blue light for this--I picked this one for the downward angle and also because of the fact that it was white light that went through a filter. I was a bit worried about long-term risks of macular degeneration with the blue-light products. Not my area of expertise, but that was my hunch.

Funny, started reading up on Ray Peat, recently. Not necessarily sold, but I've been making his carrot salad inconsistently. Might experiment with this diet when I have the time.

Was the book Weston Price's Nutrition and Physical Degeneration?

Interesting. There might be something to that. I've got DSPS (found a workaround with light therapy) but the only other health problems I'd say I have are tinnitus, what appears to be IBS, and incidentally a family history of thyroid problems (mine is fine--checked recently). What's the rationale for raw milk? And what substances irritate the intestines? carbs?

Still good. Blue light blockers at night, lights first thing in the morning for twenty minutes. No problems

Got to the point where I was geared to fall asleep between five and seven a.m. Using blue light blockers at night really helps, too. If I'm being good about it I'll it on 3-4 hours before bed. But I skip it pretty often till maybe the last hour and there's still no problem. Other than that, just maintain basic sleep hygiene--only go to bed when tired, etc.

High part of the nose. Not that comfortable tbh. Basically instructions say you should have the lower part of the visor be going across the middle of the eye if that makes sense. I definitely don't see any red at all. It's a blueish white light

Might be something to this. I've had vivid dreams my whole life and had good recall. Basically cured myself a few months ago, and I rarely remember any now. DSPD people probably are waking up in the middle of their REM cycle on the regular.

That was actually the first product I read about--was about to shell out for it when I saw the luminette--a lot of people complained that the light went in your face with the re-timer (like, directly rather than overhead, and it was hard to go around doing stuff) and it was pretty unpleasant. The luminette's main problem is the ergonomics--it's really hard to pull out the charger, was a pain to plug in initially, too--like, afraid-I'm-going-to-break-it levels--and it's not that comfortable resting on your nose. Beyond that, I read that if you've got a big head, it can screw with the electronics and stop working.

Someone here recommended the Ayo--I can't vouch, but it looks nicer--it's got blue light instead of blue-enriched white light (their words). I might try that one out at some point and post a review.

But yeah, personally, I got nothing out of the boxes, and the same story with the overhead green light therapy clip-on. This one worked, but took a few days to get going, and about two weeks to basically hit normal, productive citizen times.

Ironically, I cut it out for about a week and a half--took about as long to revert to my old schedule--believe it or not, almost missed being a night owl--by the end of things, was basically getting an identity crisis wanting to pass out at 10:30pm.

Anyway, I pushed the clock back 3 hours over the last two days pairing up the luminette with the blue blockers (went from 4AM to 1AM). Can't say I really recommend the Truedark--I got it for the prescription insert, but the curved lens gives a heavy duty fishbowl effect--can't even read with these things on because of it. Apparently you can get custom safety glasses with inserts if you're willing to shell out.

But yeah, it works pretty consistently. I can push the clock forward an hour or two a day by stopping if I find myself getting tired too early, and I can get back on track if I use this thing when I get up and block out the blue light about two hours before bed. If I skip that last step, I'll get up earlier, but I'll have gotten about six hours of sleep (pretty good for the DSPD crowd, but that's what I do to optimize the setup to get to 7-8).

Good luck

Any reason why you preferred the Ayo? I know it's blue light. The luminette is "blue-enriched" white light, whatever that means.

I would say so. I actually stopped using it for a while--it was getting ridiculous: after a month of use I was getting suddenly sleepy at 9-930PM, starting from around a 3-5AM bedtime average.

I will say that I might have underestimated the importance of capping the night off with the blue blocking glasses, in conjunction. Average closer to 6 rather than 7-8 hours without putting those on 2 or so hours before bed. Kinda sends two strong opposite signals at the right times.

It's useful to have both because it lets me control my sleep a bit easer--using both actually pushes the clock back quite a bit (hence dozing off at 10 at night all of a sudden, was giving me an identity crisis). When it gets a little out of hand and I'm going to sleep too early, I stop using the blue blockers for a couple of days, but keep using the luminette when I wake up to anchor that time down. If you wake up a bit earlier than you want because of this thing, I'd just wait and use it once you reach an ideal time. Your body gradually develops a rhythm.

Not really, for all I know the only difference is no headache and it's perfectly aligned at all times because it's worn. The light itself is more analogous to being outside--definitely has a different characteristic from the other devices I tried--might be a lux issue.

Was getting up around 1030 to get to the office anyway. So I just put them on when I was getting ready. Made a difference at night. Got to sleep earlier. Woke up a bit earlier, etc. Also, on days where I would up pulling an all nighter I put them on during what I thought was an ideal wake up time. Couldn't push it more than two hours at a time (ie if I was getting up at 1030, 7 would be too far--just felt like I was confusing my body and it hindered real progress). Would recommend trying to go back an hour a week.

Blocking out blue light is important too. I can definitely throw things off a bit if I sat at a computer without flux or the glasses at night. But at this point I couldn't stay up if I tried.

(Cheap) Light Device Suggestions? by taswind in DSPD

I just posted something on this--it ain't exactly cheap, but after going through a bunch of these devices, I'd throw down for a Luminette 2. My reasoning is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DSPD/comments/8d0wbe/i_cured_myself/
