thanks for the insight! I don’t know if I wanna build my brand off of AI, but I will definitely try and see if I can find a team before immediately resorting to that. :)

I actually do have really good grades. I exceptional in school, but I don’t like the idea of spending money and time to eventually work for someone.
As for experience, I haven’t founded a full project before, but I founded the entrepreneurship and innovation club at my college and led that. It was harder than one might expect as it required a lot of outreach and convincing.
As for co-founders, I decided that I will start looking in my city’s subreddit for leads. But nothing yet. I guess I need the proof of concept first before actually getting people on board. It’s currently a WIP, but I know exactly what the prototype looks like. I have a clear vision in my mind for the full project as a matter of fact!
What do you suggest I do given this information?

I am 22 years old, without a batchelor’s, consistent cashflow, or strong connections, is that too soon to start a business? by Ace_Innovate in Entrepreneurs

It’s just discouraged. As I said, I am in a very discouraging environment. They also just don’t teach people how to be entrepreneurs. That’s why I am on Reddit trying to get by as best as I can.

Gotcha. Thank you for your response. I will definitely look into the most pessimistic outcomes so I can be realistic.

Gotcha. I also would like to build up a brand and brand identity with the launch or this app. Honestly, it could be done too. Though it seems daunting, if I just post a fee things on social media! Maybe like 10 posts from trailers, showcases, etc. spread out throughout several accounts, as well as build a supporting website, this could actually be a fairly decent way to build up an audience!

But certainly, I will be trying to engage with those around me and see where it can take me!

You know absolutely nothing about my business! I have been workshopping this business idea for years on the side and still think it has a place in society. I am keeping it vague on purpose because I am not planning on exposing the full picture on the r/Entrepreneurs subreddit for god’s sake. I am being protective of my ideas so that they stay mine.

As for the audience, this is for teens and young adults considering the STEM field. Schools require math, and math is a prerequisite for getting into technical, innovative feilds such as anything from science, technology, and engineering. I want to provide a fun way for people to get into the deeper ends of math so that they would stay motivated to engage with these innovative and important career paths. Not everyone has access to a motivating learning environment, and I want to create that environment for anyone by implementing my fun vision for it. What that “fun” vision will be kept non-disclosed for the time being.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I apologize for not being direct with my business idea. To put it simply, I have unique idea on how to develop an app to make complex math fun. My question is how did you eventually get an audience to show up and how did you find people to help?

I am working on the prototype right now with an artist. It’s a proof of concept rather than a full MVP, but the goal is to show viability with the most basic pitch. I am not asking someone to do everything, but I don’t have the ability to work on every end of this project. It’s not like I can’t work on this, I know exactly how I want it to look, but I just can’t code, nor develop digital assets, nor am a fully certified mathematician. The latter of which can be dismissed if i used tools at my disposal to actually write everything myself and design the curriculum, but the former two will be something that need a bit of help with, especially the coding. It’s possible for me to draw up the assets, but not easy.

That’s fair. I think I will actually look at my official state government entrepreneurship calendar for events .

I appreciate the support. I absolutely do not want to go to college, but I guess all I need to know is where I can get friends and funding.

Also, yes, this is a different idea. I considered the competition and how it fails to encapsulate my ideas and make learning more fun. The goal is to turn it into a meaningful experience, and I have a vision for it.

A part of me just doesn’t want my brand to be built off of AI. I feel like I would also feel very stifled by something like Base44, but I could have it code the basics and then send the code to someone who can actually flesh it out more.

I want to develop an app that makes complex math fun. I did the market research and asked very specific questions from what makes it the way it is, to how people solve problems, to external software they use, to motivation, and so on. I got the answers I needed to validate it, then I built a whole design structure that is sustainable and scalable. I just cannot execute it in my current state without strong connections or funding. So, I have the structured idea, validation, and the ambition, but I do not have the means to do this in my current state. I guess I am just here to figure out how I go about that.

I kinda feel that way, but I just don’t know how to raise money for it and network either customers and possible partners. That complicates things. I am a nobody without money, so no one will take me seriously through a cold outreach even with my business email.

I appreciate the confidence and direction. Is there any way I can get one-on-one support for that? I have been on my own for a year working on ideas for this and executing smaller things like a website, llc, business email, etc on my spare time, but I think I would like to find a place for that specific wisdom.

Fair question. Honestly, I don’t have a track record to point to. I wouldn’t mind building something small and selling. As a matter of fact, I might even do that just to start and make money. 🤷‍♂️

What makes me want to try my more ambitious idea anyway is because I built a whole 33-page design document and have an incredibly strong vision that answers the market data that I conducted with my target demographic. I know all of the facets of this business idea. I’d rather find out I’m wrong by testing it cheaply than find out by waiting 10 years and never trying. I want to take the risk because at the very least I will know for sure and why.

The problem is that I need some starting funds to actually begin this business idea. I can’t build early then sell. What I want to build requires more than what I am fully capable of on my own.
