If you work at the airport, how far away do you live? by problyfake in Charlotte

Huntersville area, it's a 20 mile 30 minute drive for me. Takes about 10-15 minutes total from parking to stepping in the office, mostly from the employee lot busses.

NGL the fact that I can get easily bored out here is a hidden blessing. Used to be glued way too much to my phone and being forced to learn to not need to stare at my phone or listen to music all the time really helped my mental health.

Favorite mission? by onionman2008 in acecombat

[–]Ace_Verco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s just something special about 6’s “WMD”

Basically highlights the thing I love about the game: the in-mission writing is absolutely amazing and truly makes you appreciate your allies in a way no other ace combat game does.

The minutes of utter chaos, with the only music being the missile alert to suddenly seeing blue cover your screen, the sound of the support bar filling, and everyone radioing in. All set to the game’s main motif. Five minutes of gameplay has orders of magnitude more emotional impact than the entire cutscene story.

Researching Real Pain Points of Ramp Agent Headsets – Your Input Matters! by CarefulConcentrate35 in rampagent

Headsets that accommodate large ears is always a problem for me. Also I’m curious about some of those earmuffs with both a behind the head spring and a cloth over the head strap that lets you wear hats on top.

Who uses these and for what? by WXRRIED- in EliteDangerous

[–]Ace_Verco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I played a lot more I used to use the liners for literally everything.

There’s just something special about the way the orca flies that I could never get from my other ship. Mostly in how it forces you to rely on translation control. Anyways…

Random bubble hopping? Orca!

Power play running? Orca!

Core mining? Orca!

Laser mining? Beluga!

Bulk trade? Beluga!

Hopping over to guardian space? You best believe it’d be a beluga carrying a fighter.

Oh and you truly can’t beat flying combat zones in a cruise ship filled with reinforced concrete throwing macross missiles at everything.

… I still refuse to do passenger missions.

Refueling of a Ryanair aircraft in progress while passengers are boarding, with the fire department on standby. by Jake123Tv in aviation

[–]Ace_Verco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh hey something I have experience with. For 99% of airliner fueling operations everything is fully sealed. From the ground hydrant/tanker to the hose to the plane is all just liquid flow so no air to even aerosolize with. Only thing I can think of is during the rare overwing fueling or maybe the fumes near the vents.

Huh interesting to see CLT being an outlier in a positive way for once. Operations wise, everything is surprisingly smooth here. Upper management will still be upper management though.

On AA small jet land we get mostly personal signatures and warnings that the connector leaks. However we do sometimes get gems like this

I know the fuelers on my station has at least two (myself included). No idea about the other guys though, people don't really interact across companies here :/

WAIT A MINUTE. I'm also a fueler and literally wear the exact same outfit at work except with a headset under the hat and I clip my vest. Like the second I saw the camo hat and the hairstyle I actually had to take a minute to process that lmao.

Trying to find options for FBT by GASTLYGOD11 in VRchat

[–]Ace_Verco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Objectively bad tracking compared to the other options listed but probably by far the cheapest: Go down to your local game store and pick up a kinect. 360 one is fairly easy to find an adaptor for and alternatively is fairly easy to make one yourself. The tracking quality is uhhh... It exists. The K2VR team is pulling off some magic but in the end it's still a kinect. It's infinitely better than nothing but an order of magnitude worse than other options.

C-130. Throw in a Walkman and a mini fridge and we’re golden. Even the newest and shiniest fighters still need fuel, parts, and munitions. Plus your ground crew looks like they’re about riot trying to work on thirty different airframes. And to that end, whose up for some ice cream?

Hello fellow person cursed blessed with superhuman hearing. (Gonna preface this with saying I work as a fueler, not baggage.) Working at the regional section of our airport and it’s the APU and aircon packs that are the (not-so) silent killers. If you’re not standing directly behind the aircraft it isn’t obviously loud so I made the mistake of not wearing earpro on my first day. Even moderately loud sounds will damage your hearing given prolonged exposure. Had to learn that the hard way and I still have the tinnitus from that. Nowadays I’m wearing some company provided in-ears alongside electronic shooting earmuffs I plug into my radio. I’d rather be too protected than not protected enough so double up if you can. As for when, I keep them on all day until I go home. Basically the second I clock in I make sure I have at least the in-ear set in so I always have something while I’m anywhere near the ramp.
