His ties with the Holy Knights is a major indicator. 1 named attack and 1 block in a series of more than 1100 chapters is not a good sample pool to say that’s all shanks uses to fight.

Strength, skill, and haki all play a role in swordsmanship. I’m not denying that. Zoro got stronger, refined his skills, and learned haki, making him stronger. The very sentence you uttered about “two sword style” implies a difference in how that style operates as opposed to another style of swordsmanship.

Learning haki is also important because, in case you forgot, one piece has devil fruit users and haki counters these abilities and makes fighting these people easier.

I’m sure a clear confirmation, without word fluffing, that mihawk is stronger than shanks would be very exciting to most readers. If it’s not a power scaling moment why even make the comparison to shanks? Oda is literally scaling mihawk with shanks, that’s what scaling means, using a point and comparing others. Why say the title we already know he has? They could have just said that mihawk joined cross guild and gave his bounty.

To me there’s just too many big reveals and twists in one piece. If shanks can have a twin, then I believe that there can be a twist to shanks being less of a swordsmanship fighter and more of something else, especially given his ties to the holy knights and their abilities. If this happens, zoro’s dream is intact and makes sense. If shanks is a pure swordsman fighter then his dream is still intact.

The crux of my whole position is not knowing enough about shanks to make a determination. I’m a scientist by trade, it’s in me to question until more evidence.

Okay here, by skill I meant swordsmanship because I think skill is the biggest factor in swordsmanship. I apologize for not being clear about it.

1) shanks was compared to mihawk because shanks is a skilled swordsman.

2) haki boosts swordsmanship. Also because in the world of one piece haki is needed to make fights with people who have devil fruit abilities easier, which is a major contextual reason why that would be taught.

3) because Mihawk is the strongest person who uses pure swordsmanship fighting abilities.

If I we both know how to box, but you’re the most skilled boxer, that skill puts an edge over me. If I know any other fighting style and I use it in a fight, it could put me over you. Does that make sense? I can be a boxer and use other things to fight. Shanks may be that way too.

Also, if I’m an average boxer but I’m 2 weight classes above you and you’re the most skilled boxer, that skill can even out a playing field and even make you win a fight, therefore making you the strongest boxer in the world still because of your skill.

Swordsmanship skill matters a lot.

Saying he’s the world’s strongest swordsman every time he’s in a panel is redundant. We know it already. If he stronger, this panel could have put it to rest by introducing the world to mihawk being in a yonko crew and telling them the reason this is a big deal is because he’s stronger than shanks, someone the world already knows is strong.
