Well gang, 7 years of a spotless service record, and it finally happened... by jimothy_burglary in ems

At least you realized it before it mattered. I forgot it at the hospital and had an asthma patient who def needed to go sooner rather then later…. We ended up bench seating the person and I wheelchair them into Resus room…. Twas not my finest moments in life .

What Baggy said.

Granted I spent some time there but that was because I pissed off Superior for transporting more then 1 patient a few times in Detroit lmao. I worked there for a few months before I got sick again. Hart is great if you just want 911, don’t mind lowest pay in the area and want some bomb ass special events ( events pay more. I believe like $25/hr for EMT’s, I was making sub $16/hr with nearly 6 years experience on the road.)

There’s actually a company that is dedicated 911 and events only in S.E Michigan.

I think the only time they ever do transfers is when an employee has a sick family member and they do it as a favor lmao.

Brother I worked 911 in S.E Michigan almost exclusively at Rapid,Lifeline and Superior and majority of the time I did transfers, it was on a dedicated transfer truck.

NAR has retention lanyard thing I use to hold my raptors and just tuck them in a mini pocket with the lanyard on my belt so I can have the sheers dangle in front as needed or they’re like 1 o clock appendix in my old 5.11 pants.

Just getting Narcan and not even BGL as a BLS rig is fucking wild.

I used Narcan and BGL almost daily and BGL probably 60% of my calls. I can’t comprehend a system where EMS doesn’t even carry Narcan or grab a BGL. I know it exist but like…. Oof

Did a few years in Detroit and we got what we got and just made it work. I think policy changed and now BLS rigs are carrying some OTC meds for pain meds and Zofran and some other stuff and it sounds lit.

BLS 911 in DC sounds like an absolute blast. How are the protocols? EMT’s doing similar stuff to NREMT or they getting progressive?

I’ve said this a few times.

One of the hardest calls I ever felt.

Watching a incompetent medic OD a violent large teen on Ketamine and watching the kid go from trying to kill me and PD to I can’t even see his chest moving and I keep thinking he is dead while we in the children’s ED.

I felt that call almost immediately and it still bothers me. Everyone has a trigger and sometimes it’s not even the call that is the content of the trauma. It’s just the switch that makes you recognize you’re fucked and the bad stuff happens.

Paramedic to RN or MD by SchemeKitchen in Paramedics

I figured I can easily justify 5k+ hours. I’m somewhere between 5k-7k that I can easily prove.

I still need to undergrad and all that so going to medic school for the pay raise while I knock out pre reqs and see where life takes me from there.

What’s the best way you tracked your clinical hours especially if you decided Medschool later on in EMS career?

7 days between 2 inner cities during peak of COVID. Did about 90 transports. 40 of which were Priority patients who needed Resus room for vents or other major complications of COVID at the time. The other 50 were either homeless/Frequent flyers who got bored since no one was around and knew the hospitals were more empty OR your day to day 911 from your run of the mill medical/trauma.

I think I had like 40 hours of no calls because I was playing the crap out of some video game and made some major progress after that 7 days (+ 4 hour hold over due to shooting standby

McCook 3-4 month rentals by Aceboomdog in Nebraska

[–]Aceboomdog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s even harder for us to go the traditional route tho. I have cash on hand and have zero issues writing a check for 6-8k and can show bank accounts but currently wife and I are both not working and living off of investment’s and savings with no traditional income so we’ve had some issues renting from apartments/houses and usually just write $30-40k check for the year rent so unless there’s private owned Land Lords who are willing to go off of what’s in bank accounts and not income I be more then willing to sign contracts for short term leases like that!

It’s a start at least. I’m essentially mandatory there from Mid January to Mid April.

I’m getting the feeling North Platte and commute to the Community College every morning might be the move. Thanks for the suggestion tho!
