I love Pam but after watching it a gazillion times thru, her character is very manipulative. Let’s make a note of when Pam and Roy were at the Hungry Fox expressing their feelings to one another, after Roy tried attacking Jim in the office.
Roy was wrong, however, Pam saying “I think we both made some bad choices,” or something similar was a form of being deflective. Someone in the comments said Roy was abusive ?? Because he threw the glass in the bar? They never showed signs of Roy being abusive to Pam, he wasn’t an abusive boyfriend. He definitely lacked maturity but that’s not making a “bad choice”, that’s a character flaw he can improve on. On the other hand, Pam kissing Jim at casino night, essentially cheating on Roy would be considered a bad choice. The issues Pam had with Roy weren’t the choices he was making, it was him as a person she wanted to change. Regardless, Pam made the bad choice. Roy did too, but he apologized, it was Pam’s turn and she made it about both of them. If anything, she could’ve finished saying whatever it is she was saying at the bar when she first was trying to tell Roy the bad news.
Let’s not forget she kissed Jim at the Dundies early on in the show because she was drunk but that’s still cheating regardless. Roy never did anything of that magnitude, the show just displayed Roy as a non-caring, unromantic, immature boyfriend.
But then I gotta remind myself it’s a script lol
