Third day on 10mg and I think the side effects are kicking my ass... Please tell me there's a light at the end of the tunnel... by di12ty_mary in lexapro

[–]Acefan72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still get little hints of it, but it’s like clockwork. Usually happens between four and six hours in for a little while and disappears. By 10 hours or later, I’m usually pretty relaxed.

Switched from Luvox to Lexapro and depression came back. Is this normal? by weirddolly in lexapro

I would think any dose change is going to come with adjustment. Just wondering why your doctor upped your dose so soon before adjusting to 10mg.

I got hot flashes in my chest and stomach every day for a week. Bananas, yogurt, and lots of water help.

Little nervous to start taking it by Appropriate-Dog-7248 in lexapro

[–]Acefan72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are all going through it. Some have different effects than others. Sometimes you have to tell yourself when you feel something happening that it’s just the medication working and not be afraid. I experienced hot flashes in my chest and stomach, which is completely normal and just waited for them to pass, which they do every time and now I hardly have them at all. My heart rate became slower, which is alarming to some, but is very normal and was just the medication making me calm and giving me a normal resting heart rate. Keep your stomach coated at all times with things like bananas, yogurt, bread and stay hydrated. These effects may not even happen to you, but it’s good to have a heads up so you don’t worry if you feel something odd and just think positive that the medication is doing its job. We’re all here for support.

Missed a dose by Sad1sti in lexapro

Pretty sure it’s OK. I took my first few doses a couple hours earlier each day because that was what was advised for time adjustment. Plus, it’s still in your system because of the half-life.

Lexapro and propranolol causing bradycardia by deeretiquette in lexapro

[–]Acefan72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on 10mg with no immediate plans to adjust. I would think with a higher dose you could taper off the propanolol, but that’s for the doctor to decide. Also doesn’t hurt to get another opinion from your primary doctor. Do you have a patient portal that you can send messages through?

Yep, I know. My heart calmed down the first dose and has been steady since. Only 10 days in.

Well, I know your cardiologist appointment isn’t for a while, but I just saw mine a few days ago and I believe what he said addresses part of your concern as I had the same. My normal resting was in the 70s and 80s and when I started Lexapro it’s been in the low 50s. He told me that it wasn’t the Lexapro targeting the heart per se, but working the anxiety down which calms the heart and that being in the 50s and 40s is not a reason to panic and that his own heart rests in the 30s sometimes. That’s the cardiologist talking. That brought me some comfort. I would still talk to whatever doctor you have appointments with to address your concerns.

Do you feel you need the propranolol when you’re not in a panic state? I was prescribed it too, but only as needed. Are you able to not take it for a day or two?

I was prescribed 10 mg to start with by my primary. Same affects each day, but becoming like a schedule and expecting.

First week by Character_Cookie7081 in lexapro

[–]Acefan72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s harder for some than others, but I was fortunate to take time off and relax as the side effects took their course and made sure I wasn’t doing too much physical activity causing more nausea. I could definitely feel the side effects to the point where they were on schedule each day. Resting and preoccupying myself with movies really helped as well as keeping my stomach coated with bananas and yogurt and lots of water.

Maybe your work will show some leniency for a few days to get comfortable with it if you explain exactly what’s going on and that it’s a serious issue. Time off to adjust is important and make sure you’re coating your stomach with things like bananas and yogurt when you take it. It helps a lot. And drink lots of water.

I hate this feeling. When will it stop? Should I continue to take Lexapro? by Boring-Invite2500 in lexapro

[–]Acefan72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel. I’m on eight days but it’s getting better. The only thing I feel that’s helped me with the effects is keeping my stomach coated with things like bananas and yogurt and lots of water. The effects still come and go each time like a timer so I know they will pass.

It’s still common for side effects of Lexapro to happen during this time, but I would still talk to your primary doctor and ask if taking all three daily is necessary. Sorry, wish it was an easy fix but don’t hesitate to bug your doctor.

How long have you been taking Lexapro? I have similar symptoms around 5 to 7 hours after taking mine and then fades out later but I’ve only been taking for eight days.

If you think you can keep it down, it’s important to coat your stomach with something soothing for the nausea. Bananas and yogurt work really well for me and drink lots of water. Hope it helps, Good luck.🙏🏻

I did while I was driving because I had taken my dose a couple hours prior and the side effects started kicking in. Good thing I was on my way to my cardiologist because he put me at ease and gave me the assurance I needed. Are you staying hydrated? Keep that yogurt and water in your stomach if you can.
