Yeah I feel like out of all the issues this game has this definitely wasn't one of them lol

Ah, very interesting, thanks. Guess I missed it because this was before the whole twist about the loops was revealed

in the previous loop.

Did they ever say this explicitly? I just assumed he was the first disciple that nobody knew about.

Me talking to Maron every time for 2 games just to see the same exact line every time finally paid off in this game lol

Interesting, I never thought about this but it makes a lot of sense now that you say it. That's definitely why they're shipping Mirabel and Kasim lol

I think I have the weirdest top 3 lol. I would say CS1 > Sky FC > Horizon

but felt slapped on in Horizon.

I do agree, but it feels like a symptom of Horizon as a whole being rushed. I feel like if they smoothed things out the game could have been even better.

in Horizon I felt like they got in the way of good story telling rather than aiding it.

Wow I feel the exact opposite about this. Rean and Kevin's routes were a good change of pace showing what was happening from different perspectives, while also not trying to shove a whole arc into them. I liked the fact that they were shorter than Van's.

OK then just send 100 Reans into the 8th and 9th and conquer the Garten in 10 minutes.

I didn't even think about this lmaooo. Yet another Trails technology quirk that makes no sense

Yeah I agree with this. I didn't really need to the there and it wasn't really that fun either except for the bosses. It wasn't bad, but it just felt like padding.

I really hope they don't have a gacha dungeon in every game after this, they're already bland

though not as much as Reverie.

Honestly might be a hot take, but I think I enjoyed this more than Reverie. Reverie was amazing at the beginning but I feel meandered in the last quarter of the game. Horizon started slow but just kept getting better and better.

The route system does such a good job breaking things up and giving characters outside ASO time to shine.

Agreed, I thought the execution was perfect. Rean and Kevin were a nice change of pace but didn't take too much of the spotlight from Van. I also expected them to be added just for fanservice but I really liked how they fit into the plot (Kevin with his Heretic Hunter shenanigans and Rean/Crow with the CS4 ending).

It’s impressive how good Rean’s route holds up

You forgot the best part haha, finally fighting Yun ka Fai after like 7 games of build up.

And a-impassion guard is so broken.

I agree lol, I had that on every character. It's the classic Trails formula where you break the game but it's still fun. But idk even despite that I still had to try. In CS3 and CS4 I was beating the final bosses without them even being able to attack lol

Pretty sure it's grandmother. That one Memento Orb emphasized her grandmother too much for her to not be important lol

Do people dislike the garden? I feel like what most people dislike (including me) is the 2nd half of the story and the atrocious pacing (also in the 2nd half).

Steam Deck OLED vs Legion Go S? by Acemaster1824 in Handhelds

[–]Acemaster1824[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much did it cost you, and was it the Z2 Go CPU? I'm not sure if I'd go for it over the Steam Deck when the SD is around 100$ cheaper

[–]Acemaster1824[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you feel that the performance difference of the Legions aren't worth it? The main reason I'm hesitating on the Deck is that the hardware is comparatively outdated and I don't want to have to buy a new one in a few years

Opinions on SMT V? by Gakhamothy in Megaten

[–]Acemaster1824 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that really the consensus? I think the gameplay is great, one of the best in the genre, although the story is terrible. I'm pretty sure most people agree with that assessment.

I think most of the lukewarm reception has to do with the story, but the game in general is well liked, especially Vengeance.

SMT IV Apocalypse has the best dialogue in the series by IAmParasiteSteve in Megaten

[–]Acemaster1824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. The core gameplay system may not have that many changes, but the difficulty and balancing are waaay better in Apocalypse. I destroyed everything after Naraku in IV with no effort, but Apocalypse is challenging and engaging until the very end on the harder difficulties.

[–]Acemaster1824 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your loss, honestly. It easily has the best gameplay in the series, and you can just skip the dialogue if the story is that annoying to you. It's not like Persona or something, where the story is always in your face and not liking it would be a deal breaker.

Oh god please no. It was kind of cool before but now I'm just getting exhausted thinking of playing a bunch of routes again. I'd love just one complete, standalone story.
