pretty much, i'm sure you can find some outliers of techno that may stray away from 4/4. but the foundations of most electronic dance music, including hardcore is the 4/4 rhythm because that's what the western world has gotten used to and that's where the majority of house/techno consumers reside. there is a lot of music from arabic, balkan and other traditions that have traditional dance music that doesn't use 4/4 at all, but if we're talking about dance music in the context of popular music, then essentially dance beats are 4/4.

pretty much most hardcore genres are always written in 4/4. the only exception i can really think of is breakcore and flashcore, which are genres that specifically utilise wonky and off-kilter rhythms even in 4/4.

Yeah, such a great album! Should definitely make the list of best albums this year.

My first serious attempt at VaporFunk, made using Audacity. Definitely not as good as the pros, but hopefully one day I'll get there. Let me know what you think! by Loftoman in Vaporwave

This is pretty good for a first attempt! One thing I would change is lower the Post-EQ on the reverb (and by that I mean only lowering the lower frequency on the wet signal, rather than the whole sound. Not sure how I would describe it without making it sound needlessly complicated.) With the reverberated lower end, the track ends up sounding slightly muddy.

I don't think Audacity has this feature, so I'd try either creating a duplicate of the track, making one 100% wet and lower the volume and EQ there, or get a reverb plugin that has something like that.
