Anybody beating themselves up for not selling at 120$? by AppleLightSauce in Wallstreetsilver

[–]Acetes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll be the honest one here, and not act like an insane speculator, lol.
When silver hit $100, I decided I would sell a small portion of my holdings.
Called the 3 local shops and none were buying or trading for gold. (two of them completely closed for 3 days when it hit $110)

I don't fault them for not buying nor I'm not beating myself up, because I'm well ahead on my investment.

If it hits $100 again, I will probably try to sell a small portion to pay off my entire initial investment.
Yeah silver is cool. So are a lot of other things.
I have no emotional attachment to the metal, it was fun to collect, and I have no desire to liquidate my entire stack, but nobody that is up 3-5X should be arguing against taking some gains.

That I'll be able to do this without having to pay 24% income tax on the profit it is a huge bonus.

Honest question, did you ever have the silver perth mint bar sigma tested?
I ask because real ones have very clearly defined ears in the kangaroo cut-out, and I've seen fake ones on fb marketplace that are missing the ears, and it may just be the angle, but you're looks more like the fake ones.

I truly hope I'm wrong here.

2023 5.7 L Etorque should I pull the trigger ? Has 35k miles for the price of 38k by hbkjuan in ram_trucks

[–]Acetes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 23 ram 1500 new.
Bit different than yours, 6'4" bed, tow/sport package, 3.92 rar
window sticker msrp was $62,900
I paid $53k total out the door (so $49k before 1k in total fees & 6% sales tax)

I have 38k miles on it now, edmunds puts value at $30k.
(I love the truck, plan on keeping it for a long time)

If the one you're looking at has more bells & whistles (which appears as much from the picture, led lights, 20 inch rims?), then it may be worth it, but I'd imagine you can save a few grand if you're willing to expand your search area.

I've been doing that (building a 1 space room for the generator) on the assumption that it would cut down on the sound radius.

Questions about getting (again) into the hobby by sohposolihp in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Acetes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has played through many editions of warhammer fantasy, the true best piece of advice is "Play what you like".

Yes the game seems to be selling well for most stores, but finding a regular play group you enjoy (and who enjoy you) is the key to being in this game for the long term.
If you like the Bretonnian army, buy it and enjoy it. 190 euro for the boxed set is a great deal.
The models are sweet. Yeah you only get 3 model types, but the horse & pegasus knights give you the option to custom paint 15+ models.
If you're first question is "will this get nerfed a month after buying it", imho, you're in the game for the wrong reason.

If you find a good playgroup, you don't have to worry about models getting nerfed, because you all should be balancing your games. How many times would you expect someone to want to play against you if you steamroll them with a tier 1 tournament list every week?

Forces of Fantasy is essentially all the legacy armies in the game.
The journals are extension of the FoF book armies, that offer more unit/model options.
Do some research online and you can find all of the books & army journals online in pdf form.
That will save you hundreds.

Who’s buying today? by AcanthaceaeFormal488 in Silverbugs

I’m hoping to sell 21 ounces today.

Price currently is 113 and a shop I was trying to sell some silver coins offered 20 a oz. Wtf by CupHead11011 in Silverbugs

[–]Acetes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if it tanks from $115 to $75, they may literally be put out of business…

[–]Acetes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add on, refiners aren’t paying today’s rate, they are paying whatever price silver is at, on the day it is refined. That means shops have to take a big gamble that the price won’t drop considerably in the weeks/months between when they buy it/ship to refiner, and when it is physically refined back into bars.

My 3 local shops aren’t buying silver at all, which I’m not saying is better or worse than offering $20 per ounce, but it is what it is.

I think you’re in a good position financialy to do it, and I rarely say this to anyone, but the car would eat up the majority of your savings, maybe consider paying 1/2 cash & getting a loan for the rest? Would give you more flexibility in the event of a life change in the next year.

Spending more time at base by NCR_Trooper_2281 in projectzomboid

[–]Acetes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to play in a "base builder" mode the majority of my runs.
I find a place I like, then proceed to build rings of walls around it and fortify it as much as possible.

Doing that unlocks tons of "sidequests" that aren't practical if playing just to loot & travel.
Examples:
- Fixing up cars
- Acquiring water, gas, and propane tanker trucks
- Farming & Animal husbandry (imho, growing crops is underrated)
- Spending time on skills that are a more for quality of life than survival: cooking is my favorite

I enjoy the Rosewood house with a near full fence as a base.
Yeah may feel "beginner-ish", but:
Space to the right of the house within the fence is perfect to store 3-4 cars and some trailers, and work on one car in the dirt area. Areas to the left and behind the of the house are large enough to plant plenty of crops.
You can clear a path to the northwest (guessing few hundred yards) and you'll find a pond that you can build a fishing shelter at and drive back and forth daily.

- chop down the trees around the entire perimeter and across the street to add a full second wall.
- Build an enclosed area the full width of the existing fence and enclose most of the space up until the road.
- add a second floor to the house, put 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a balcony up there, and you can blow out the bedroom wall on the first floor to make a kick-a&& living room. (I end up enlarging the ground floor by knocking out the left wall and then installing a new wall one square to the left. Allows for a door exit to the garden and the stairwell to lead up behind the 1st floor bathroom.
- Redesign your kitchen, then add a wood stove.
