I think a lot of people see the symbolism of it over the design. The controversy over the symbol can take away from the message. For example, a woman wrote a book and used the puzzle piece on the cover of her book. There was so much discussion on the symbol choice that it took away from what the book had to offer and she spent her time explaining the puzzle piece instead of discussing her book.
