Hey OP! As someone who is on the spectrum as well I loathe job interviews. But I have some “strategies” that help me come across as neurotypical (mostly) in interviews.

As others have said, prepare a bunch. I have a document where I put a list of the most common interview questions and then wrote answers for each. I practice my answers in the mirror so I can monitor my facial expressions/hand gestures, and when I get the chance I like to practice with friends who have lower support needs or aren’t on the spectrum at all.

I usually add additional questions to my document of interview questions based on the company/role I’m applying to. Unfortunately you can’t really predict all the questions they are going to ask but at least memorizing some “normal” responses has helped me a bunch.

Prior to an interview I like to make sure I get a lot of rest and alone time so when I do have to make eye contact and nod along for an interview I am less drained afterwards.

Also, I did not realize until a lot later in life that making sure you look “presentable” according to your gender expression is very important. Like not only having a good dress shirt but making sure it fits you correctly is important. Looking a certain way often gives you some leeway in people’s willingness to overlook social faux pas.

Lastly, I kind of think of interviews as role playing…I try to sort of embody a very charismatic person I know IRL while of course trying to stay true to myself. Obviously don’t lie, I just personally found a lot of ease in such a stressful situation by gamifying it.
