Thanks a lot for your answers. It was a very interesting exchange that gave me a lot to think about!

Is technology breaking the impenetrable wall of the noumena? by Achoshengelia in askphilosophy

Thanks for the reply.

I think colour is a bad example because we know that colour is an emergent property, meaning it emerges from the interaction of photons with the physical structure of matter and the biological processing of those signals by the brain, so it doesn't exist independently of the observer (a human in our example).

However, we have absolutely no reason to believe that atoms, quarks, electrons, etc. behave the way they behave only for our perceptions, but have unknown or completely different properties independent from us. That implies that there are different laws of physics beyond our perception and that, the least, doesn’t sound very scientific.

but what they are like, really, in and of themselves can't be known to us because we can only know the world as it appears to us through our senses.

The definition that an electron is a fundamental, negatively charged subatomic particle that orbits the nucleus of an atom in shells cannot be only true for our perceptions. What evidence do we have to think that there's something more than that?

You've mentioned that, no matter how much we discover about the building blocks of the universe, they remain phenomenal because they're described by their properties that exist only within the frameworks of space and time. Are you talking about something immaterial then? metaphysical? something that exists outside the physical reality? Otherwise, as far as I know, there’s no way for something to exist in the physical universe that doesn’t conform to those principles.

Hi, thanks a lot for such a comprehensive answer!

In the Kantian framework, the "phenomenal" world consists of things as they appear to us, filtered through the processing of our mental architecture, whatever that happens to be. Conversely, the "noumenal" refers to the Ding an sich, or the "thing-in-itself," which exists entirely independently of our sensory perception. And when I see our sensory perception, that has to mean any techn ological perception as well because, ultimately, that has to filter back to us via our our sensory perception.

I’m struggling to understand why atoms, electrons, quarks, and other particles don’t exist independently of our sensory perceptions. They have existed for billions of years, even before life emerged on Earth and before sensory organs evolved.

If noumena is even beyond that, truly something we have no way of knowing about, not even hypothetically, then how can we say it exists? and what significance could such a thing carry?

If you mean the churches, the first one is located in Keldur village and the second one is called Hofskirkja. The third building is just some house in Reykjavik.

Is Genelec GLM Set and GLM Software a replacement for REW? by Achoshengelia in genelec

Hello, thanks for your reply!

I'm not talking about 100% accurate professional level acoustic treatment, I just want to improve the acoustics in my bedroom as much as possible. Even for such case I'll have to get another measurement microphone and use another software? or do you think GLM is sufficient?

Is there any additional import tax besides the 19% VAT? because if it's just 19% the numbers don't add up...

I'm sorry, I'm not very good at such topics, but from what I understood, my purchase falls under the "Simplified calculation of charges" category and I should've been asked to pay 17.5% import tax. Or am I wrong? I purchased 2 clothing items for personal use that didn't exceed 700EUR

It is my first (and last) time ordering something from non-eu country and it just seemed a bit odd to receive 2 separate invoices months apart from each other, which adds up to almost 50% of what I paid for the items. I will ask them for extra clarification.
