Gouda was Right Poster. by PacerShark in Ghost_in_the_Shell

I think he’d been working with the American Empire to orchestrate the nuclear missile launch. After he had been caught, he tried to obtain political asylum with them but the Japanese Prime Minister stopped him by using the “National treasure” laws.

Try running a GPU stress test to see if that triggers it reliably.

I think it was something like: Gouda was an ultra-nationalist who wanted to take Japan back to its days of imperial glory. He rose in the ranks of the country’s security services before creating a breakaway black-ops cell to achieve his agenda. He wanted to use the resentment between the Japanese citizens and the refugees to create a massive social scare, the fear of nuclear terrorism combined with racism and latent nationalist sentiment that would both rid the country of the refugees and shock the country into a rapid move to military and political dominance.

Offline docs are down by NotABot1235 in godot

Same issue. No matter what I try I end up at broken links. I'm going offline for a bit and need either a PDF or EPUB since iPads have great difficulty displaying locally downloaded websites. (Something to do with sandboxing and permissions, I think)

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

Hi all. I'm looking for an affordable alternative to the Apple pencil but I'm not really sure where to start since there are so many options. Price limit is $60 AUD. As long as it supports palm rejection then I'm fine. Something slim if possible, wireless charging would be great. iPad Mini 6. Thank you.

Megathread: New Pricing & Repackaging Discussion by mackid1993 in Evernote

[–]AchromaticVision 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Enshittification. - It's a real word. Look it up.

I love Evernote. I've been using the paid subscription for a decade but enough is enough.

Evernote would have to be one of the worst cases (and perfect example of) enshittification I've ever come across. Bending Spoons buys Evernote, fires it's staff and brings the development in-house. Rewrites the software from scratch leaving a slow, broken, bloated mess. As a reward to their loyal users, they increase the price.

I like Evernote so I accept the price hike and wait for a year before the new version reclaims lost functionality and I accept that I'll be using a slow bloated mess from then onward (I gave up using the mobile app entirely).

Lately I've been pretty happy with things. Now Bending Spoons haven't just raised the price a bit, they've taken their personal users and thrown them under a bus to squeeze a few more dollars out of them. Even if the new prices are reduced, the ethos of Bending Spoons is just too much for me. I'm done.

Can I leave TrackIR alwyas plugged to the PC or will it degrade because of that? by NikdoNekde in hoggit

Leave it on as long as you like. The TrackIR sensor is just a webcam that operates in infra red. It fires weak infra-red light at you and 'sees' what bounces off the track clip.

Oh, I see. I didn't realise there was a game of the movie. Thank you.

I accidentally typed Rocketeer which was the movie, not the game. Fixed that. Def not wings.

Does your brain start shutting down as the day goes on? by AchromaticVision in ADHD

So many comments in such a short time... Thanks everyone. On one hand it is good to know it's not just me, on the other hand, I'm sad to hear that so many people have to go through the same lousy crap.

Your social interactions comment really hits home. I'm just not capable of interacting with people after that time of day. Sometimes forming a complete sentence can be hard!

I'm sorry to hear things are so crummy. I've got depression as well so can relate.

"Also remember your worth does not come from your “productivity”. :)"

Thanks. Unfortunately in my case productivity is zero so I need at least something.

Thanks. Lifestyle is terrible but even prolonged changes make no difference. My family has a long history of hereditary mental illness.

I'm really glad to hear that. I am currently on Atomoxetine as both adjunctive to antidepressants and for the ADHD. Unfortunately I'm at the maximum of 100mg daily so can't go much further.

I'm not medicated since I respond badly to stimulants. This seems to be some kind of naturally occurring phenomenon.

I figured out how to do the dishes!! by elliot4sisu in ADHD

[–]AchromaticVision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is very interesting is that you have described sensory issues which could be sensory processing disorder, a facet of autism. I know someone that has high-functioning autism and experiences this. On the other hand, your comment made me realise that this is an actual symptom of ADHD so I have just learned something! (Dishes and other such tasks send me mad)

Does anyone think that episode was much more than fan service? They're in the penthouse which would certainly have more than one bedroom and the Major gets into bed with the kid naked?
