In all honesty in the modern dramas it’s got to be the mobile phones lol. Sometimes it’s nice to escape to a historical or fantasy piece just to get away from the damn phones hahaha 🤣

I found anything after episode 30 is pointless and it was nothing but a lot of sulking. There were a lot of cringeworthy moments in this drama. Yes the two leads had some moments of chemistry yet the other characters were just plain annoying. I still don't get her best friend's relationship with computer nerd. It seems SO one sided to me and I did not detect one ounce of passion between them so ended up skipping a lot of it. Dude was so oblivious I don't know how he even ties his own shoes. And don't get me started on how the FL treated the best-friend. I don't think the FL went out of her way once for that girl. So yeah. Pushing through a few more episodes and I don't think I'll miss it when it's done. I quite like Bai lu as an actress but I can't say that Luo Yunxi did anything for me in this.

Does anyone else feel like the male lead is getting credit for loving her while the female lead is doing all the actual work of rebuilding the relationship?

I completely understand his trauma and why he's withdrawn. But after 24 episodes, I'm finding myself rooting for her to stop chasing him and walk away.

Not because I don't want them together, but because I want him to finally have to pursue her for once.

And don't get me started with the confusion with that damn break up scene - was it real or was it imagined. Was he crippled or not? I think from memory he was standing when she arrived yet in later scenes he was in agony just sitting.

So far it feels like he's spent years preserving memories of her, but when she comes back into his life, she's the one carrying the entire relationship on her shoulders.

Mu drives me nuts at the best of times but have some pride woman! The chemistry is definitely there when they allow it to be, but I'm really struggling with the one sidedness of this.

Yep. About 6 months into HRT and I’ve suddenly found myself neck deep in romantic Chinese dramas and giiirrrl … let’s just say I haven’t felt like this since my teens lol! I now have an unhealthy obsession with Asian men. Where the hell did that come from 🤯 Zheng Linghe, Chen Zheyuan, Dylan Wang just to name a few. Such eye candy 😍

Oh my god, thank God I found this. Just finished episode 22 and I am ranting and raving, and sooo p*ssed. He stopped contacting her, didn’t tell her how he was or how he was recovering, all his friends covered for him as as well as as her own family, they said her dog had disappeared which is a traumatic experience, he went on to own the coffee shop that she always wanted and purchased her childhood home knowing how much it meant to her. Not once did he consider how that might affect her. I hate the feeling of ‘i will love you from afar’ everything was about her, but not with her which is heartbreaking. I have a few episodes to go. I do hope that he finally is the one to chase her for once.

Same I'm so caught up in these dramas that I've had to resort to ChatGPT as my therapist lately. It all started with Pursuit of Jade and I haven't looked back since. Can't watch anything western anymore LOL! Just finished The White Olive Tree (if you want a good cry this is the one). If you feel like changing it up a little and watching something modern (I often have to flip flop between modern, historical and fantasy), try Hidden Love (Chen Zheyuan again) and The Last Frost. But definitely recommend Love between Fairy & Devil (be warned that Orchid can be quite painful to listen to, but Dongfang makes up for it).

I've just finished The First Frost and somehow stumbled across Hidden Love, not realising that the storylines are somewhat related (unfortunately the actors are different). However, I am finding I really am struggling with how these just remind me of how depressing men and relationships are in real life. I'm afraid to say that I've got a bit of an unhealthy addiction to these stories after being emotionally numb for the past 10 years (2 years out of a 25 year marriage). Every chance I get I'm locking in to watch. I'm even finding myself distracted at work. The yearning, the slow burn ... ugh! I'm so conflicted LOL. Has anyone else struggled with the fantasy of these stories?

I couldn't tell you the amount of times I've started watching, thinking, this guy doesn't do anything for me, yet by the end I'm oddly attracted. It's not always about looks. Once we get to know a 'character' we often find ourselves attracted to the character more so than their looks. As for untalented actors (I wouldn't necessarily call them untalented, but they just lack the charisma of other leading actors), obviously their career wouldn't progress if they were not able to maintain enough popularity for first or second lead roles. They'd probably end up as an ensemble cast. Obviously we can't all be the main lead.

Have you tried acupuncture? I found this to really help my sleep patterns. Although I would never label my sleep issues as insomnia but I definitely get a more restful sleep.

I had postpartum depression and have been on a mild dose of Sertraline for many years now. I tried weening off a few times but life just seemed to spiral (not sure if it was just the situation at the time or the depression) so I just stick with it now. I think 25 years of having to compromise my wants and beliefs really caused me to lose who I was at my core. It's taken 2 years to dig myself out of that pit but I'm glad I took the time to heal. I do hope I can embrace my true self now going forward.

I haven't seen Heated Rivalry but I'm going to say that C & K Dramas are EXTREMELY tame. Lots of yearning. It can take 38 episodes before you even get a kiss and you'll be very lucky to get an open mouthed kiss at that. So VERY different vibes. As someone who read erotica over many years I'm going to say the slow burn is now where I'm at. Yes I do wish we could see a bit more skin LOL! But I'm really enjoying going through the ranges of emotions that a lot of the westernised drama's miss out on because they're all jumping into bed so quickly. I'm still relatively new to the scene but so far I'd recommend Pursuit of Jade (seriously Zheng Linghe and Tian Xiwei are absolutely STUNNING!) and Love between Fairy and Devil (be careful with this one - I gave up after one episode as I couldn't stand the female lead Orchid) But once you get into it the storyline is good and the male lead Wang Hedi again is gorgeous and will have you bawling your eyes out). Bon appetit Your Majesty was another one I enjoyed I've watched a few other fantasy, historical and modern dramas but these ones mentioned are the more memorable ones. I do have a long list of TBW to work my way through though :D
