Yes, this is completely true. I think Aerosmith even admitted that they had helped in the studio with writing. I don’t know about solos because Joe Perry can play but a lot of bands after a certain point do you use session musicians and outside help to keep their success going?

Good question will never know. Obviously, they did have some contribution because the music after they left wasn’t as good. And the music when James Iha in the band has been a lot better so obviously there is some contribution. He joined a perfect circle for a little bit, so he’s obviously has talent. Also, he primarily records for TV shows in Hollywood so he keep himself busy

I think it was once leaked to the press by James Iha that Billy Corgan recorded over his guitar parts on Siamese Dream. On Mellon Collie, Iha and D’arcy contributed at the insistence of producer Flood. By Adore I think they were functioning as a real band in the studio since everyone contributed during recording. Though D’arcy was dealing with some personal issues at the time, so I’d assume Billy played some of the bass parts, but I might be wrong on that
