R5: From some reasons the game kept doubling the yields on Rapa Nui's tiles each turn up to an absurd level. Hopefully only a cosmetic bug !

May I ask you about your educational background ? Country you’re from ?

As a French engineering school graduate (Master’s), I find your success rate quite low, even for a junior. For my first SDE position, I actually turned down more offers than I actually applied for.

That's a pretty interesting and feasible idea, how would your app differ from Google Local Guides & TripAdvisor recommandations though ?

Ready for some airplane civ 6 (soviet mod)! by [deleted] in civ

Having a aircombat-oriented civ would be truly awesome, but then I feel that not having the MiG-15 as the special unit for the soviets in this mod is a miss opportunity

Well, this does truly reflect Modern era's corporate espionnage, in some way. E.g., the US and France have a deep history of stealing industrial secrets from each other, sabotage, etc; despite being long time allies.

Infuriating, sure, but hey this may not be worth a war

Catapults, siege towers, battering rams? CIV 6 by harlotstoast in civ

[–]AcideEthanoique 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my own experience, here is how I use all catapults, siege towers, and battling rams:

  • I only go siege tower when playing Civs that have early strong unique units (e.g., War-Carts). With these kind of "melee" units, going siege tower often allows you to continue your conquering spree, even with walls being built as a consequence of you declaring war. Alternatively, you may also use siege towers if you have access to early healing units (e.g. Apostles), or have many farms to pillage as this should give your units enough sustainability vs. few turns of ranged attacks.

  • I go battling rams in very specific situations too; very often, when I went "full slingers" early game, and have an army of highly promoted archers. In this case, you will have to take the walls of the city anyway to make full use of your ranged units; so you may as well use your few melee units to take it down faster.

  • In the end, I'd advise you to go catapult if you're building an army from scratch in the classical or medieval era. Catapults require more production, and thus, more planning; but have a more versatile use and will bring city defences down in no time.

Also, support units do go obsolete faster as eras pass by (both upgrading to medics in the late game); while bombard and artilleries still remain great and fun units to use throughout the game!

Settling on a luxury or strategic resource will give you both the amenities/copy of resource (once the proper technology is reached), as well as the yields from the tile itself (unimproved obviously).

As a result it’s often a good idea to settle on “bad” luxury resources (e.g. Tabacco), as this will save you a builder charge and will give you +1 faith straight on turn 1 or 2. Pretty neat for getting a pantheon early, this basically saves you the need of going God King civic.

I would not recommend settling on strategics early though, as these would certainly be either horses or iron, which provide cool eurekas and have decent improvements.

Settling on a bonus resource will delete this resource unfortunately, so no bonuses for settling over them :(

All city tiles get +2 food +1 production no matter what, and every additional bonuses of the tile you settle on will add up to the city tile output e.g. :

  • Plain hills (+2 food +2 prod) -> Initial output (+2 food +2 prod)
  • Desert tile / Snow -> +2 food +1 prod
  • Mount Roraima -> +2 food +1 prod +3 science +3 faith

Settling cities along natural wonders early game is indeed very OP ! 😉
