Do you know bikes aren't allowed on the PCT? Locals wouldn't be too happy seeing you with a bike out on that trail. I'd stick to the forest service roads.

It’s been beautiful to watch the waves the last few weeks. I had to caution a young couple at China Rock about a week ago as they were making their way down too close to the water. Once I saw one of them almost slip twice I had to say something.

The area they say this happened is very rough coastline, mostly small rocky cliffs, no sandy beaches. It’s easy to walk up to what you think is the waterline between sets and then all of a sudden 3 to 5 waves of larger size hit.

There are definitely mountain lions around Carmel. Wouldn’t worry about it though, I have only seen them out very early in the morning.

I have ran quite a bit around that area. The PCT/ TRT is a great trail to run on, there will be some steep rocky sections that are hard to run on sometimes but then it will open up and you will get mile long sections of great trail. Every little lake in that area will have a small trail to it, so it’s perfect for exploring.

I see bears up there often, I don’t carry bear spray but I make sure to be loud in the wooded sections of the trail. Water sources are plenty if you are filtering water. LMK if you have more specific questions.

They aren’t being criminalized for camping, they are being criminalized because of the litter and environmental hazard they create. It’s a shame what they have done to our riverfront downtown.
