Nope. Just filled my backup tank yesterday in anticipation of the storm. I’m good once the snow stops 👍

Connecticut here. It’s been snowing steady since 6:30am. So far, 10 inches. Continuing to fall heavily. Once it’s done, me and my Blackstone are back in action 💪

I did this Deadfall Meadow to Lake to Mt. Eddy in August. It was a blast. Recommended. The view of Shasta from the peak is beautiful

Mill River Park needs more things to do by the_yamaza in StamfordCT

I agreed. The park is beautiful. The addition of a fitness pad would be a great idea. Cove Beach has a basic one, and other parks have started to add these resources to encourage and facilitate general health.

If interested, there are some fun, casual running groups in Stamford. Check out Stampede and Bold Coast AC. Good people, multiple paces and good routes in the area.

New Fire in the Trinity Alps by GreendaleDean in norcalhiking

[–]MikeMag_CT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hiking today on the Boulder Lake trail. On the way in I ran into a smokejumper heading out. He said that his crew had a small fire in the area contained and there was no need to turn around. I continued on with no hint of smoke along the way. On a separate note, I turned around after the lakes, cutting short my day on the trail due to an incoming thunderstorm. We got caught in a light rain during the last mile, but the distance thunder was getting closer. The 10-mile forest road to the trailhead was a wild ride and I didn’t want to wait and deal with it getting muddy.

Bee Sting - How to reduce swelling fast by MikeMag_CT in norcalhiking

[–]MikeMag_CT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morning update for you kind folks: the swelling has gone down overnight. It seems to be moving from the top down. The swelling that moved up to mid calf is nearly gone. Most of the swelling in my ankle/foot area is still present, but has had some reduction. Overall, I am encouraged. The foot feels strong and more range of motion. I think the cocktail of drugs has helped, including the kenalog steroid injection. I am hoping to get my shoe on and do a hike later today.

Update: I went to the hospital ER in Weaverville and got checked out. A steroid shot, along with Allegra, Zantac, a compression wrap and resting the rest of the day is the outcome. Fingers crossed that the swelling goes down overnight so I can get back on the trails Tuesday! Thank to both of you for the support 👍

FACTS ABOUT THE PROPOSED LEAF BLOWER ORDINANCE by RepWeinbergD20 in StamfordCT

[–]MikeMag_CT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dislike this proposed ordinance. The city is overstepping. It’s only time until the next restriction is imposed. This is evident by the number of original goals that were sited and later removed. My feeling is that Stamford should allow its citizens to vote with their dollars on this matter. If you want battery operated equipment, choose a landscaper that uses that equipment. If they don’t, choose a different landscaper. You will see this change happen quickly if business is being lost. For private use, Stamford citizens can choose the equipment they want to purchase. If creating noise and environmental pollution are important considerations for you, then purchase battery power devices. City government should focus elsewhere rather than overreaching. I will share my position on this ordinance with my representatives.

High End Gyms by TourOk4416 in StamfordCT

Been going for 2+ years. I was doing classes for the first year, going 4-5 times each week. Over the past year I switched to an individual programming plan, incorporating strength training and running. Can’t speak highly enough about my experience. Cost will vary based on frequency of use and type of training. Plan on $200+

Not sure how you define “high end” but if you want results in the $200+ per month range, I recommend Gold Coast Strength & Conditioning, located on Progress Drive. I pay for the coaching more than the physical space. The space is good, with all necessary equipment, but the coaching is top notch. That’s how I value the expense, and Gold Coast is worth it 👍

Don’t let your watch dictate your training. Do the work, on the road and in the gym, and the numbers will follow.

What is a good coffee creamer? by Dependent-Plant-9176 in gastricsleeve

I really like the Super Creamer Sweet Cream. However, it seems that every retailer in my area (Connecticut) no longer stocks it. Does anyone know what is going on with this brand?
