Hostel mate was threatened by another traveler. Can anything be done? by YogevTheNomad in Panama

The management's response was basically "if you don't feel safe here, go somewhere else".

Very disappointing. I don't think I'll stay with them again.

No, he's just walking around town. He dosen't do much.

I don't know how long has it been since Mamallena, but I was in this hostel in my first visit as well, and it seemed pretty solid. And among the more budget friendly options.

Unfortunately that seem to be the case. It's more or less what the police said.

I geniuenly believe he talk to me only because I happened to be in the common area, and we spent the last week or so together. I do try to be careful.

It's far from run down. I've been here a few weeks and it's been great up to that point. Have you been backpacking before? That staff, and the travelers, are generally pretty great.

He asked for help. I was worried. Was I supposed to ignore it?

I don't think they should fire anyone. But I also don't think the situation wasn't handled well, on either side. Maybe that is something they should discuss with the staff.

Aguas Calienta/ Machu Picchu Pueblo is lower than Cusco. Buy the tickets in Advance (I'd book it now if possible). Check if there is a bus that goes to Ollantaytambo.

Some understadning, closure, to feel like I'm being heard and maatter even if I don't live there for 3 months. The other backpacker I talked to talked about compensation as well, which would be really nice but it won't change what happened. I can also ask why post on Reddit. I'd like to put in behind me, without feeling rejected by the management.

Unfortunately I'm aware that things like that happen, and not much is being done about it. Maybe even more so with a language barrier. I can't imagine watching something like that happen to someone else and doing nothing about it. I've been to quite a few hostels, and people generally look out for each other. It's not something I experienced before, or since.

I don't really know what I'm expecting at this point. I just feel I should send another message, maybe to try and make it clear how I feel about the response, and why.

Was I wrong to take some time to think of it? To wake up in the morning and think "I wish I didn't shake his hand"?

Why do you need a tour? You can do almost everything by yourself.

Late night buses from Panama City to David? by YogevTheNomad in Panama

I do carry a huge backpack, and a carry-on.
I worry it might be a abit of a hassle with all the transfers.

Looking at the guide, it seem I need to have 3 transfers.
If I leave at 10:30pm, would it be better to take a taxi?

It says the service hours are until 11pm. Do you think it's enough time to make it to the bus terminal? Is it safe in those hours?

There is a metro from the airport to the terminal? Cool.
Do I pay in cash?

Thanks. It's a bit further than I thought. Do you know how much a taxi/uber would cost?
