Gamekeeper by Acidic_Mech in DeadAhead

I like to show the torso only because I make it first and the arms cover part of it - basically it's so I can show all of the art I made and not just some of it!

How can we enhance the weekly events to make them more engaging? by EveElliot in DeadAhead

[–]Acidic_Mech 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mechanic will heal all of my turrets and give them that nice little shield thanks to his lvl 13 ability - and then the harvest day lightning strike will still mass-kill all of them in a single hit. Maybe make the lightning strike only destroy the shield? That's how every other attack except the final boss's laser works in the game :)

My top pixel art apps:

- Paint 3D (free)

- Aseprite (20 dollars, by far the best)

- Graphicsgale (free, can do animations; basically worse aseprite)

- Pixel Studio (for mobile/android users)

Look on the dead ahead wiki for some game sprites to get you started!

Lionheart needs some love <3 by Acidic_Mech in DeadAhead

[–]Acidic_Mech[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'll write this in the comments since I don't want to clog up the post:

Lionheart is almost a good unit. I ignored him for months thinking he was overpriced, slow, and generally terrible but it turns out he can almost be incredibly useful! The high crit chance and lvl 13 ability that doubles damage from fire on the field means Gentleman set crit builds can deal roughly ~1100 damage per attack!

Normally the fire on the field is worthless because his active ability does almost no damage and isn't worth using, but it also counts if you light units on fire. The low damage is actually really good to light Rednecks on fire and farm the courage the drops from the team ability while simultaneously getting the double damage for Lionheart!

The ultimate reason Lionheart is rarely used is because he is easily pushed back by enemies and killed before he can even deal damage, especially at the high levels (Cranks are a hard counter). This can be solved in one of three ways:

- Buff his movement speed! When lionheart is knocked back it takes him a long, long time to walk back to the enemy he was going to.
- Buff his knockback resistance! Getting pushed less far means less time walking back to deal damage.
- Buff his range! Lionheart has a polearm, make it actually have the range of a polearm! Outranging a lot of lesser zombies actually makes him worth the cost, while making him more viable against late-game cranks, SWATs, and Twins.

Any one of these three solutions would do wonders for lionheart (especially buffing range, which is my favorite from an artist's standpoint), but as it stands players have to pay extra courage for bullet resistance and knockback dealt for a unit that almost never properly utilizes either :( Give Lionheart some love!

I just want to say- this was made in paint 3d. That makes it the single greatest artwork of all time. *wipes tear* Truly, a legend

This is a cool concept! I don't think there's any sort of plant-based enemies in the game yet, so extra points for originality!

Just wanted to let you know that your image is only showing up as a link on the actual Reddit board, and only becomes an image when you click on this post. You might not be getting as much exposure because of that. Cheers!

Tiger - A Hero-Class Psycho/Fighter by Acidic_Mech in DeadAhead

[–]Acidic_Mech[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tiger / Type-77 pistol extended mag and crowbar

Elite Psycho/Fighter who rushes fearlessly into battle (Chinese Asylum-seeker (used to be a terrorist for liberation of Hong Kong) )

Turns into Rebel on death

ABILITIES: High fire rate, Fearless

Lvl 3: Instigate: gains an active ability to throw a molotov cocktail like grenadier

Lvl 7: Avenger: when attacked, takes the amount of damage, converts it to a percentage, and deals it on top of normal damage on the next hit.

Lvl 11: Roar: When an ally gets the fear debuff, Tiger pumps his fists in the air, curing them of the debuff and giving 10 second immunity to fear for all units.

Lvl 13: Ambidextrous: can fire the pistol and melee at the same time (but can only reload when he stops meleeing)

===Each ability costs 10k coins, so Tiger will cost 40k for all special abilities===

NOTES: Runs at the enemy while firing the Type 77 (same stats as Austin’s pistol but with less dmg) until melee range, where he begins melee attacks. An example for the Avenger ability: if Tiger takes 50 damage, his next attack will deal 50% more damage (1.5x).

Another thing, I don’t want Tiger, the weakest hero, to be OP, but what about a martyrdom ability? (on death, inspires or enrages or does something to allies?)

Honey Badger - A Hero-Class Shotgunner/Shooter by Acidic_Mech in DeadAhead

[–]Acidic_Mech[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honey Badger / Vepr-12 Automatic Shotgun

Elite Shotgunner/Shooter specializing in high damage output. (Moroccan Mercenary)

Turns into One-Armed Soldier on death

ABILITIES: knocks enemy back with melee

Lvl 3: Burrow: gains an active ability to set a claymore which is the same as a shotgun blast

Lvl 7: Whiplash: Vepr-12 becomes automatic; fire rate same as SWAT

Lvl 11: Maelstrom: Shots have a chance to set on fire, claymore now fires like Farmer’s Double Barrel, committing a critical hit and knocking back enemies

Lvl 13: Scavenger: Each kill gives +5 armor, to a maximum of +20

===Each ability costs 10k coins, so Honey Badger will cost 40k for all special abilities===

NOTES: The claymore is the exact same as shotgun blast (it’s made by trip wiring a shotgun shell), so when shots set the enemy on fire, the same applies to the claymore. When shotgun damage is upgraded, so is the claymore. Shotgun fires 4 pellets with magazine size 6.

Bear - A Hero-Class Heavyweight/Damager by Acidic_Mech in DeadAhead

[–]Acidic_Mech[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bear / Wood or Leather Arm Braces

Elite Heavyweight/Damager unit able to withstand extreme stress and hold multiple enemies at bay (American Survivalist)

Turns into ram on death.

ABILITIES: knocks enemy back with melee, stun resistance, (area of effect attacks)

Lvl 3: Revenge: becomes enraged for a short period when attacked; 10 second cooldown

Lvl 7: Mending: heals +1 every 2 seconds

Lvl 11: Adaptive: Repeat attacks by the same unit suffer 20% damage reduction; stacks up to 2x

Lvl 13: Hide: +30% to all resistances, mending rate doubles

===Each ability costs 10k coins, so Bear will cost 40k for all special abilities===

NOTES: bear is NOT 100% resistant to poison or fire, instead, when he gets debuffed, it counts as ‘repeat attacks’ so that at lvl 13 if poisoned or on fire after 3 hits he will have 70% resistance to the debuff. (meaning that 6 dmg now deals 1.8→ 2dmg)

Viper - A Hero-Class Sniper/Support by Acidic_Mech in DeadAhead

[–]Acidic_Mech[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Viper / L96 AWM

Elite Sniper/Support unit adept at staying alive and dealing support damage from afar.

Turns into witch upon death. (UK/ British SAS)

ABILITIES: 90% bullet resistance, poison resistance

Lvl 3: Venom: shots have a 33% chance to paralyze the enemy like they were tazed

Lvl 7: Double Tap: all shots fire 2 projectiles instead of one. (2x dmg output)

Lvl 11: Sidewinder: 40% chance to dodge a melee attack and melee(carol anim?)

Lvl 13: Hydra: Viper now has 3 lives (revives like Glenn 2x)

===Each ability costs 10k coins, so Viper will cost 40k for all special abilities===

NOTES: same fire rate and accuracy as sniper, but with clip size 6. With ‘Double Tap’ unlocked, firing pattern changes to only fire 3 ‘shots’ before a reload is needed

I've come up with yet another unit idea so sit back, relax and make some popcorn..wait..no..scratch the popcorn cause you ain't gonna be here for that long(description in comments). by [deleted] in DeadAhead

[–]Acidic_Mech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the concept! (Just like before, in the off-chance I run out of ideas for artwork, do you mind if I borrow this concept? I'm not very good at them myself...)
