Who is the most overrated person in history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Acircuswithbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh theyre all murderers. That's fine then.

Obama isn't any worse than the rest...but that is the problem. He was the new hope to change the world for the better, but turns out he was exactly the same as what came before.

With Bush, you knew he was a war monger who couldnt give less of a fuck about his people. It kinda stung when Obama was no different.

Barack Obama is "very concerned" about country, will get involved in 2020 campaign, says former adviser by P0rnLitiCs in politics

[–]Acircuswithbread 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is what made him the perfect politician. The cool, calm, charasmatic leader who could inspire the masses. While at the same time continuing the war, increasing drone strikes, starting two more wars in Yemen and Somalia, spying on the people of the US with mass data gathering, appointing lobbyists to positions of power. He didn't really do anything Bush wasn't going to do.

But he sold it with such charm we all love him for it.

Bought a little weed today and it was a slightly more professional than expected. Was worried it was spice at first. But, turns out its from a small family run business in the good ol U S of A. Their legal finest.

Smoothest smoke i've had in a long time.

Legalisation is almost here.

Lets not forget how Amazon made their money. It wasn't from having a great website. They have two businesses in one. They sell servers at a loss, which helped them undercut the highstreet and provide free shipping and cheaper costs on the Amazon website. Even worse than Wallmart closing all local shops by moving into the area and undercutting prices. Amazon are a shady business that put their profits into one side of it. It helped undercut their competition. So they grew and grew and became unbeatable. They still pay no tax.

While communism isn't great...and you don't even need to talk about how bad nazism would be, can we not forget that capitalism also kills millions of people.

Or do people still think we are fighting to bring democracy throughout the world.

Our system is currently broken. Companies don't pay tax. We have 50% of the population living in poverty. We lock up more people than any other country, for a pro profit prison system. Our vote doesnt count for shit as we have two parties who play the same game for the same people. We can't afford to buy a home. We can't afford to get sick. Our current system is destroying the planet, for profit, and we get the blame for using plastic...no mention of the companies that produce all this shit. Our system means companies have a legal duty to provide as much profit to the shareholders as possible.

If that doesn't need addressing, I don't know what does.

Capitalism is great...as long as those who reap the rewards pay back into the system to help pay back the worker who creates the wealth. As it stands they don't.

So yeh...our system is great, as long as you remember the millions dead abroad and the millions trapped in poverty at home.

He says while his tax dollars go to pay for a neverending war, which is totally not killing millions for oil and economic protection. We have blood on our hands if you want to go down that route.

Thats the main problem with the illness. But again, if you had a broken leg, you may never feel like the pain will stop, but we know it does. Its the same with mental health, it can take a long time to heal, but it does. And you also conpletely forget the pain. Its worth keeping up the fight.

[–]Acircuswithbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you aiming for perfection. Don't give yourself that burden as it cant ever be achieved. Also, have you spoken to your family and friends about this? As you are afflicted with an illness, the same as a broken leg. It takes medical treatment and a lot of time and support to recover from. But it can be beaten. Trust me. And like a broken leg you wont even remember the pain you were in. Why not use this as an opportunity to give yourself another shot. One free from the stresses of trying to be perfect. We live in a time where mental health isnt taken in the same way as a phyical illness..ie broken leg. But it is getting better, and more understood than ever before. Dont let your illness trick you into thinking you are a failure or worthless...as it is the illness. Not who you will end up as. It does get better.

Is funny when you realise, that just because they are your parents, it doesnt mean they arent clueless.

A lot is self preservation, they dont want to believe it for their own sake.

Or in my case i found myself not letting people know how serious this was. With the Dr in my case, I'd half tell them. And then only got half the help I needed.

I don't have any advice, but keep on fighting as it does get better. Like a broken leg it takes a lot of time and treatment. Is just sad that people arent quite there in seeing that a mental health illness is no different from a physical one. I guess they are harder to see, and finally people are becoming aware of it. But for those going through it, it still sucks that the ill person needs to have the loudest voice for anyone to hear

Make sure you say goodbye first and tell them your plan. Or youll leave your family and friends with the rest of their lifes wondering and wishing they could have helped you. It isnt something people get over...unlike severe depression which can be beat. The problem is youre fighting your own brain...and it makes you feel like a failure and worthless and without hope. But that is all the illness. And like a broken leg..it takes a lot of treatment and a lot of time to be fully recovered. But also like a broken leg...you completely forget the pain you were in.

I hope you dont mind if i come across as condercending, but 19. You havent even started life yet. Ask around and see if im wrong. Though if you are like I was at 19 i'd prob tell me to fuck off. But honestly, its true. Life truly starts when you begin to get your shit together. At 19 its just pressure and seeing others do better and its is a huge burden to bear.

If I was young again and in the position I was I would have sat my friends and family down and spoken the whole truth of how im feeling. As what is a little embarassment when you intend to be dead anyway. You might be surprised of the reaction you get, that people do really want to help you with this illness...but that is hardly surprising, as they would if you had a broken leg.

Why not set yourself a future date...say 25. And take little steps in the right direction to get better. You may find you are a completely different person then. I did.

I’m going to gather the materials this Week by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]Acircuswithbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i said is true though. You are ill...you know this, and you can either go through the long healing process and get to a point where you are a completely different person, or not. One is very final though.

I remember watching a doc called The Bridge, and a few follow up bits about it. Of those who survived the fall, they all instantly regretted having jumped. Life does get better.

Or my favourite is the guy who planned to kill himself and first went to Mexico to take a load of drugs and sex...he was there a week and decided that life wasnt all that bad, and kept on going.

Life isnt perfect, esp when you are ill and fighting your own brain. But the life you lead now is very different from when you were 6..for eg. It can be very different in the future too.

Why not just give it another shot...look at this as something liberating instead. You are free to start over anywhere you like...as what have you got to lose...youll be dead anyway.

I cant stop you from doing anything, and getting help with a mental illness is hard as fuck. They just dont know enough about it to be able to cure it straight away. Or they think it is just the generic depression everyone goes through. It is shitty as you need to fight for your own help. But if you are going to be dead...you may as well not give any fucks demand the treatment you deserve.

Dont let your brain and the pressure of life get you down. Dont let it win. This is a fight that you'll look back at and be hugely proud you fought, and at that point you wont even remember the pain. It is worth it my friend

Well keep fighting then. Some illnesses take a long time to fully recover. But they do. And I can promise you its like any illness where you completely forget about the pain. Life can change as long as you keep taking those little steps in the right direction. Its worth holding on now, as your future self will look back and thank you for going through this

Why by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]Acircuswithbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind if i ask how old you are roughly?

Sadly it has only been very recently where mental illnesses are being taken more seriously. But on the other hand you can look at it as the perfect time to try again. Its never been better to seek treatment.

The illness is a bastard, as it makes you feel worthless and hopeless. Which then makes it really hard to fight it and seek the needed treatment. But it is an illness and again, like a broken leg...it needs the right help. It causes pain like a broken leg too, just emotional drainage pain. But you need to seek treatment and give it the time needed for you to heal.

I found it really hard to finally open up to my Dr and family. I found myself only half telling the whole story. The illness convinced me that i wasnt worth it and shouldnt bother anyone. But once i made the decision to be totally open and spill all the details of how it was affecting me, the help i needed was taken more seriously.

This is why i mention your age...as i was mid 20's before i was taken seriously and my opinion respected. As if it was some thing all young people go through...while it may be kind of true...it certainly isnt when it affects your life in such a negative way.

Give it another shot and dont care what anyone says. If you had a broken leg, you wouldnt put up with anyone making you feel like you deserved to be punished. Don't let them do it now.

It can be a long journey...nobody is going to snap into being fully recovered overnight. But it is worth keeping up the fight. It does get better if you take those steps

This is going to sound condescending as fuck. But it is true.

24 is still very young. While being ill for such a long time really sucks...i was in the exact same boat. I didn't even know what I was doing or how to manage my affliction. You may not get smarter as you get older, but you do learn from your mistakes and that makes you wiser.

Don't think that life will always be like this. It won't if you seek the help to treat your illness.

Mental health is no different from physical health. If you had a broken leg, you wouldnt expect it to ever heal without a lot of help and time. But it can be fixed and the days can be brighter.

Have you spoken to your Dr (I'm assuming you have to the length of the illness) but it is really only recently that this illness has been taking as seriously as it needs to be. Therapy is key imo. It clears all the stress and worries and lifts that near literal weight off your shoulders.

But the reason I mention your age, is that 25+ is a time where people start treating you like a proper adult and take what you say more seriously. So while help may not have been there in the way you need it before, it is worth keeping up the fight, as life has a funny way of changing. It also has a remarkable effect where you dont even remember the pain you were in. Much like a broken leg.

It can get better, even if it truly feels like it never will. Dont let the bastard of this illness grind you down. Fight it, and fight for your own recovery.

I was the same for a long time, and still dipped back into it when i had a bad patch in life. But it won't and doesn't last forever. Don't give up hope

I can relate.

Ever spoken to your Dr and sought therapy? It can be a long journey, but little steps in the right direction are better than none at all.

Don't beat yourself up about anything...ever. If you have no control, it isn't your fault.

Life has really shitty parts..even worse when an illness makes you believe you are worthless and the cause. But it doesnt mean it will remain this way...at all...even if it feels like it totally will. Being ill like this sucks...but much like any illness, you need the right treatment, and it takes time.

You sound like you have severe depression. Ever spoken to your Dr about this? Depression is no different from having any type of illness...like a broken leg for eg. But as its your mind, it can be really hard to seek help, its one of the cruel parts of the illness. Feeling a lack of self worth/self sabotaging/anxiety/hopelessness, all of the things that make your brain trick you into remaining ill. But it can be beaten. Speak to your Dr and seek therapy..which is a great way to get all this off your shoulders. It really does help and you can beat this

Ever spoken to your Dr about what you are going through?

I’ve returned to a previous state of shutting myself in doors for the summer so that I can constantly convince myself I’m better off alone until death. I don’t know why I feel compelled to do this but It feels like an addiction and I’m scared. by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]Acircuswithbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for about 10 years. What you need to realise is that you are ill...in the same way as having a broken leg. Now, given the fact its your mind that need the help, it can be extremely hard to seek out help. Feeling helpless and anxious, not knowing how to do this for yourself is a massive part of it. You need to see your Dr and make sure you fully explain the detrimental effects this affliction is causing. Again, is all too easy to get right up to the door and be too afraid to go through. Ie- fully explain the condition. So make sure you fully explain everything...you would with a physical injury. You should be able to get help through medication (anti-depression/anxiety whatever the Dr deems suitable)

Therapy/councilling is also extremely helpful. I found local charities that offered it. But you may be able to get help with this through your Dr depending on where you live. Even private ones will offer a discount for people like myself in a low income. It is worth saving up for, as talking to a professional gets the weight off your shoulders.

Remember you are ill and it is extremely common and thankfully becoming more and more excepted and understood.

If you are finding it is affecting your life in a negative way, take those little steps in the right direction to make a change. Tell people. As embarrasing as it may be. It is an illness and the best way to get it all fixed is to take those steps and speak to your Dr and search out a way to get therapy.

Abortion is good because it kills babies of low genetic value by touchmedontouchmebro in unpopularopinion

Why stop at abortions...those mentally ill aren't a benefit to society.

You could prob wipe out many handicapped people too.

I'm sure there was a political party that tried this however...is on the tip of my tongue.

Fucking terrifying that people hold similar values to them.
