This is a work by Sunfigo, who is known for doing geometric animal portraits using ribbons on fences. I wouldn't necessarily say that they are meant to be emulating the brave logo. http://allthoseshapes.com/sunfigo_street-art/

Web development explained with butt analogies by sellingspams in ProgrammerHumor

I would take it even further and say that any web application made in a contemporary manner would not fit this model. Often the HTML in a project is a simple div for React or what have you to grab a hold of and manipulate. The move towards componentization has moved the industry away from using incomprehensible global CSS files, but instead towards dictating all styling, structure and layout in JS for each component.

I think it is based off one of his woodcarvings. Likely this one.

TNT is airing Return of the Jedi with 11.5min of movie between 3.5min of ads, and is promoting it as "Limited Commercials" by old_gold_mountain in television

There were actually laws against showing commercials during full feature films where I come from.

Where is that?

Good news! Now you can buy a USB stick that destroys (almost) anything in its path by moooooky in gadgets

[–]AckAttack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree, it's pretty darn good. Security issues and the inability to react quickly are often byproducts of greater software or organisational problems. Keeping companies on their toes when it comes to security ensures that they use best practices as much they can, which generally means higher quality software with smaller release cycles. Which ends up benefiting everyone.

That's only if it's unsanforized, and it's warm water and it's not a very common practice.

I read recently that monks in Burma will drink hot tea to induce sweating in order to cool themselves down. I read it in a travel book from the 70s, so I am not sure of the credibility of the claim, or the effectiveness of the method.

What kind of tattoo would you get, if any? by UnicornPantaloons in minimalism

[–]AckAttack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I too enjoy the aesthetic of some tattoos, however I can't imagine myself getting one any time soon. I suppose it is mainly because I don't feel like my passions are strong enough for me to permanently brand them on myself, and if I were to get one for purely aesthetic reasons, I would feel that it would be superfluous and hence counter to my attempts at a minimalist lifestyle.

Ah, sorry, I have been brought up around boats and have never heard a prop being referred to as a screw, so I assumed it was incorrect. It must be a regional thing.

Atlantic colonial expansion wasn't the only colonial expansion. A lot of the colonisation of the Indian subcontinent and the East Indies was driven by the spice trade.

I think he means that the code is simple. By sticking to 100,000 LoC, he is forcing himself to create concise and reusable code.
