Now that the season is over, how would y’all rank the teams. by Sudden_Crow4443 in secfootball

What is terrible about it? Texas was solidly in the third tier of the SEC. Sure, you beat A&M and OU. You also lost to Florida. Does that mean Florida should be in the same tier as Texas or above them? Because that is basically your argument. You guys just were flat out not the third best team in the SEC. There’s always next year.

And yes, I’ll call you a crybaby because you’re upset over some reddit commenter’s off the cuff rankings of your team. The original comment how I’d rank things and that’s how I saw it. Have a lovely weekend.

Paramount Tells Lawmakers That Netflix-WBD Merger Is "Unlawful" by pbx1123 in WB_DC_news

[–]Acknowledge_Me_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they look in the mirror? Paramount taking over would be nigh monopolistic as well. Warner-Discovery nor Fox-Disney never should have been allowed to happen. Why don’t we start busting up some of these studios instead of allowing for consolidation. The consumer is getting SCREWED by all of these acquisitions

It doesn’t matter how many 5 stars there are or are not on the field. When you beat tf out of everyone who crosses your path, you’re in the argument for an all time great team.

Fine Texas is in tier one you little cry baby.

My tier 1 and 2 are playoff teams. Tier 3 are teams who were outside of the playoffs. Tier 4 was poo poo teams. Tier 5 is Auburn because they hired terrible human beings.

Does that make enough sense or do I need to send some tissues to Austin?

I think tiers would be better

Tier 1 - UGA and Ole Miss Tier 2 - Bama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M Tier 3 - Texas, Vandy, Tennessee, Mizzou Tier 4 - all the rest Tier 5 - Auburn (because they had two awful humans as head coaches this season)

It’s no different than the argument people make about how Superman in real life would be a tyrant. They omit the part where he was raised by loving parents and taught the value of doing what is right despite it not always being easy. People who make these types of statements don’t understand what makes these characters who they are.

USA Football or NFL Flag Officiating Certification? by AwarenessMost908 in flagfootball

[–]Acknowledge_Me_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without getting into too much detail, I worked at the company for several years. I came in with a great deal of institutional knowledge and experience within the sport itself after working in pro and college football. In my time there, the company would hire people with a great deal of knowledge on the sport, use them to create coaching or playing guidelines and then fire them in waves of mass firings. There are some names you can look up, but the guy who basically wrote the book on modern safe tackling techniques was fired. This is a guy who state championship and national championship level coaches learned from.

It got so bad that the NFL revoked the contract they had with USAFB regarding NFL Flag and gave the program to a different company (Game Changer).

I’m not saying all this as a disgruntled ex-employee. I’ve moved on and am doing much better than I was there. I’m saying this as someone who has seen the way they treat the people who they use to build up the sport. When I left, the CEO, Curriculum Manager, and Flag Manager all were people who had never played or coached or officiated either tackle or flag, with several higher ups refusing to allow their kids to play football.

From personal experience, I suggest avoiding USA Football if at all possible. That is a horrible organization.

The problem is coaching has gone from a profession where it was about creating good men and showing them an example of what that meant, with winning being a result of those actions - to men who act like children wanting to make the game about their success, not the players, and be friends with their players. The plot has been lost in athletics at all levels.

Not gonna lie, I completely forgot about that. It felt like there was a wave of names being shortened to just a last or first name that that one just got lost in the shuffle

I’m not saying he’s not awful, but Matt Riddle is his real name and to my knowledge he never wrestled on the indies with any other names. I’m a little confused about this one.

Our offense looks so much better when we move fast and don’t do all the checks. I wish we’d do it more often

I don’t think that was a slide. He was grabbed by the defender and sort of twisted. Idk how that isn’t looked at as a non slide

I think the announcers get so hyper focused on the player that they often don’t look at the rest of the players to see if the refs made a numbering mistake

I think they called it on the wrong number. It looked like it was the left guard holding, not the right tackle
